In NL with position you can just check the river if you are a little uncertain on your opponent and you'll fold to a raise.

This is best done if your hand is actually visible on the board like in this hand, because now you'll have reason to believe that villain must be aware of your hand and is either on a 'draw' or slowplaying something.

If you are holding a more concealed hand like a set or overpair, then chances are higher villain might be calling with a 2nd best hand.

Don't make the check-behind play a habit though, it has its uses but it can also lose you alot of value.

I like the pre-flop bet. After the flop I think a little higher raise might have helped. Also after the turn bring your bet up to 1/2 or 3/4 pot. You want to sway the odds against anyone on a draw. Hard to say if you made a good laydown or not. Personally I think you did but we may never know.
