Any getting away from this? |

First hand at this table so no reads. I can easily say in hindsight that I didn't like my call on the flop. I bet out to see where I stood and when re-reraised, (foolishly) called. When he re-raised I thought he had a pair with the board of some kind so was thinking of bluffing on a later street if an over card fell. A little method to my madness...
Pretty hard to get away from this hand when I hit the set though.
Any comments?

No way to get away from that (with the exception of the flop call which you mentioned) especially at low limits.
And just to clairify:
A set is when you have a pocket pair PF like 55
Flop: 295
And trips, which is what you got where one of your cards pairs twice on the board.
No big deal though, really.

I think you have to look at the raise after the flop and try and decide what hands can beat yours.
That push on the turn was crazy. He had already raised you after the flop so you should have really been asking yourself what hands could beat you...a higher set or a straight for sure. With so many people limping into this pot any hand is possible.
