I been playing live poker for about 3 months. I play 5/5 because that is the only no limit game they have at the casino where I play. I start out with $300. When a new table opens everyone starts out with $300. If you were to play on this table what would you start with?
I play about 2-3 days a week. One day i'm up $400 and then the next time I go I break even an back to what I started with. I went to the casino tuesday and was up $100. Now I'm in the hole $100. Can anyone give me some tips that I can try?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

If you've been playing for three months and you're only in the hole $100, then that's not too bad. How long have you been playing poker in general?

Always buy-in for the max.

Definetely buy in for the $300.
Here is my take on a new "Live" table. The dynamics are much different than a table that has been open for several hours before you buy in. Generally, there will be an initial power struggle. Players will want to establish some kind of “I’m aggressive don’t F with me” image. Play is generally unpredictable. You don’t have any reads. You can lose a lot of chips early. Someone always seems to. It’s better to sit back and let the sparks fly for a couple rounds and let thing settle down. At this point, there will already be players re-buying chips. (Maybe that someone is you?) Anyway, I try to avoid new tables if possible. If you do sit at a new table, it’s probably a good idea to immediately sign up for a table change.
