$5 SnG on Stars
Alright, well after this hand I couldn't make anything happen. Just pushed with AK from button, called by A4s and of course he makes his flush and knocks me out in 5th. Sigh.

Did I play this hand correctly? Seemed to me that I was ahead, especially on the turn, and he got lucky and made his flush. Though, I did give him bad odds with the raise on the flop and bet 800 into 1800 on the turn (misread, thought it was 1600 but still).
Did I basically play this properly and get unlucky, or was there a mistake somewhere?

I'd probably raise more PF and fold on the flop after he bet into me. If you have been continuation betting a lot then he will feel confident betting into you with a hand knowing that you are the aggressor.

i think you played the hand pretty badly. You need to raise more preflop.... but if you dont raise more preflop you should raise more on the flop... you cant give him odds to call for a straight/flush. Then on the turn if you feel you are ahead you should move all in. there is plenty in the pot to be won and the river could totally feck you up. . . which it did. But take heart from this - you thought u were ahead and raised, and folded when u thought you were behind.

That was a standard 3xBB raise, I kept it at that rather than 4 or 5 because the table was playing pretty tight at this point and I wanted action. On the flop, he bet 200 into a pot of about 600 and I raised to 600 in a pot of 800, thought it was a reasonable bet to find out where I was. Was pretty certain he was on a draw. On the turn, I did misplay it and should have pushed, not really sure why I didn't.

Someone has got to explain to me why "good players" are so obsessed with pot odds when the "play player" is not. I'm talking in reference to the price you give and if he even cares if his odds are correct.
If he holds a hand like A5 his draw is so much better than the price he can easily just push it in. Just the flush or straight draw? Your reraise on the flop begs a draw to call anyways, it costs him 400 to call, or 500 to fold. Your thinking in terms of what is correct to call if the player is concerned with looking good. Ask the average player what a good price is to draw, if they are honest most of the time they will tell you any price is good if I hit it.
Don't complicate the game for an average or bad player, give him a price you don't feel the average player will take based on your read and if he takes it anyways and you feel you are still ahead on the turn just move it in.
