WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Posted Thu Apr 08, 2004 5:13 pm GMT by PuckJunkieNY
Nic,

The past two days I've experienced sooo many bad river beats in both ring NL, multi-tourney and a SNG. All at UB.

I recall one hand where my AA hole lost to a second pair made on the river at a .15/.25 NL ring......
In late positon I bet $1 (4x the BB), two called.
Flop = J rag, rag (rainbow and no str8 on board)
check, check, I bet $5, One folds, other calls.
I doubted he had small hole pair, cuz he allways pre-flop raised when he did, so did not fear trips. Possible two pair, but this guy always bets with a good hand.
Turn = 10
I go All-in....he ponders...ponders....Calls (all-in)
River comes 7

Showdown: (Board = J, rag, rag, 10, 7)
Me: AA
Him: J7...to make his friggin two pair on riv!

I'm speachless, baffled, red in face pissed off. How the F*ck does he go all-in with pair of J's and a 7 kicker!?!?!
I hate those idiots!

About 5 more of similar nature occurred and a bad play or two on my part cost me to drop $40 in that time period. If it was not for a plus $75 Monday I'd be really bent. I seem to have really good days or reall bad days. Rarely do I have even days.

I did the odds calc on these 3 hands. I was a 90% fav at the river on each. To lose all 3 is staggering. That is 1000 to 1 if my math is correct. As I analyze these plays, I am finding little wrong with the play of the hands. At each critical point, I get all my cash involved when I have the best hand, so im not going to gripe about it. I KNOW the poker gods WILL pay me back. Twisted Evil

I dont bitch and complain like yall but it is nasty, I usually suck it up and wait it out, Its bound to happen all the time. You have to think of your opponents!!

25 cents is cheap, think 2/4 or 3/6 at a casino its the same way.

There are always gonna be bad beats! If you played the hand right there isnt anythign else you can do!!

Im a limit player thats how I started off learning the game. But I do know that if I keep playing my hands the way Im used to.....the RIGHT way, I will get paid off in triple what the new guys will be getting in single.

Keep getting bad beats and theyll roll off you like water off a ducks back!

this wasnt meant to dis yall, jus some words to soothe the pain if it helped
