HU - limp reraise?

Posted Sun Aug 27, 2006 2:49 am GMT by MrDarling
You know in HU when SB limp reraise you that usually he have a hugh hand. Now knowing that, with which hand do you call or raise?

I had AJs last night , slightly more chips then Villain. I already decided I'm trying to go allin with this hand pre.
He limps, I raise, he reraise and I push. he calls and flips ....
You guessed it A's.
Though lucky for me , I rivered a str8 and won.

Look for a post about that in online poker forum's section bad beat Smile

So which hands do you call with?
PP ? pp? AK-AJs?

Stack sizes?

If stacks were short, you were probably destined to get stacked. AJ holds up pretty well heads-up, although I'm always wary of the limp-reraise. You probably can't CALL the reraise, only push or fold, and depending on the odds you were getting, it might just be one of those unavoidable head-on collisions.

If stacks were a little deeper, I think you should have folded to the reraise, especially if you felt you were a better post-flop heads-up player.

my question is how would you normally play it?

In the above case small turbo S&G , blinds where very high. we both had a little over 10XBB

In that case, your calling range should be pretty high. A8+, KJ+, and probably just about any pair.

1 guy I play with normally only ever does this w/ A's, but heads up & 3 handed, I've seen him do it w/ any PP/pp, A7-AK, KT-KQ, etc

Since you both have around 10x the BB and you already brought it in for a raise (I assume 3-4X BB) you're pretty much committed to the hand.

If your stacks were both deep and this is the first time he pulls this move I consider laying it down. If he has shown this move before, even once I probably just get it in the middle.

HU, 10 BBs and AJ, and I'm trying to finding ways of getting my stack into the pot, not out of it.

My 0.02$

Those were my thoughts exactly.
I made a small raise (maybe even mini) because I was hoping he would raise. And as soon as he did I push as quick as I could. I didn't even stop to consider he might have the better hand!

Though the second before the cards were turned I though , damn, he limped-minraise-call allin : He has a monster.
So I wasn't all that surprise to see his A. Though I was very happy to see that 9 on the river that gave me a str8 Smile
