I saw a hand exactly like this in a STT a while back.
I got QQ and re-raised pre-flop and got re-raised big.

I thought for awhile, thought about this forum actually, my wife was watching at the time, I said to her, "this usually means he has AA or KK and I should probly fold"

I thought for awhile longer and folded QQ pre-flop.
He showed AA.
One of my best lay downs ever and I couldn't have made that laydown without reading this forum.
DCx proves the point again. We can learn from each other's mistakes.
Thanks for the post DCx.

Villian has AA here.

Not at all an easy laydown Turn, 75% of the time the dude will have AJ, think his TPTK is gold and you will be laughing.

Very few situations in which i could make a laydown there, one of those times when it's all going in regardless Very Mad

Altho for me, it's all going in on the flop rather than the turn Razz

In this case, I disagree. I don't think this preflop action looks like AJ to me. I think it basically only fits AA, KK, or AK. I guess it is Villain dependent...he could be a maniac.

Yeah, i hadn't looked at the preflop yet, i agree, it's AK and he spiked a lucky river after getting it all in with A hi Laughing

j/k, it's AA, only time you get reraised preflop is with AA Crying

AA or KK for sure. Could be JJ but I doubt it. Might even be AK Club and went all in with the river KClub but I kind of doubt that. My guess or actually my read would say AA or KK. Since Diamond, in his own words, was too mentally challenged (political correct term) to lay it down telling us he got beat, then I have to go with AA,KK or AK.

Well just goes to show DC kind of plays like PH... Laughing Laughing

I think this hand is totally villain dependent. I know many players who will make the third preflop raise with AK and bet the whole way too. So, I don't think this is an autofold on the turn. I am not saying it is an autocall either, but it isn't so easy.

This hand illustrates one reason why I rarely re-raise with QQ preflop. Many will disagree, but IMO in NL, QQ when facing a raise becomes a set value hand and unless you committ a lot of $$ on the second raise, you aren't going to get AK to fold here. So, a second raise with QQ becomes and informational raise to try and find out if villain has a hand you can beat. The problem is that you generally don't find that out as lots of players will just call with AA, KK or AK as they would with pairs JJ and below. So, in effect, you are building a big pot preflop with a hand that most often doesn't want to play a big pot.

Yes, there will be times when you will be pricing in other hands with a simple call that would fold otherwise, but I think this is more than compensated by the fact that often an Ace or King will come on the flop when you hold QQ. Bottom line...I try not to get to married to QQ until I see a board that I like. Some will call this too conservative, but in general, I don't find QQ to be such a huge money maker in NL that I am giving too much away by playing it this way.

Yes, the villain had AA here.

Even if he was making a clever bluff, though, I should have laid this down. With my style, I can often trap people when I'm holding something like 97 or a small set and I'm a huge favorite, so why bother putting in so much money with just a pair when there's a better than average chance I'm beat?
