I was just playing in a single table tourney and we were down to 4 players, 3 get paid. I had been totally dominating the table, a combination of some awesome hands and general awesome play had me sitting about 10,000 in chips. To my left and right were the shortstacks, both had only a few hundred in chips and were desperately trying to cling onto them in the hope that the other would go out, leaving them ITM, directly opposite me was 2nd chip leader with about 2500.
In this situation there is a natural urge to pressure the shortstacks, one of them goes and everyones in the money.
However in this situation i like to try and apply pressure to the 2nd chip leader, after all, he should be cruising into probably 2nd place, why would he want to tangle with me and risk it all on the bubble?
So i basically folded everything to the shortstacks, i think i would even have folded premium hands to them at this point, the situation didn't arise, but my goal was to hurt 2nd place to make things easier when we got heads up.
Every time on 2nd paces big blind i moved all in, he folded every time.
When the bubble broke (it was actually me who took one of the shorty's out, my bb with 2-3off and he called, not able to even cover the bet, I of course spiked both a 2 and a 3 ) I was up over 11K shorty had about 400 and 2nd was down to about 1600 in chips.
After that it was a fairly short and sweet affair to take the last 2k from the table As i could well afford to gamble, knowing that even if i doubled either player up it wouldn't effect my stack seriously.
