Posted Mon Aug 28, 2006 1:16 pm GMT by Alaskadude
This has probably been done here already but, for entertainment value, I thought I'd start another thread about the stupid bets we've seen/done.

ok, this one might not be the worst because of the amount of chips at risk but I've got one that should be in contention for the stupidest betting. I'm on the ropes here on a one table sit and go and watch what this guy does.

Flush draw and didn't make it..or had AX and figured you had PP or a set.
Interesting to see you raise 910 and bet away like you had something. Good bluff on your part. Probably a bad laydown on his part.

I call $5 more with no cards in my hand for those odds.

I was short stacked compared to the other two guys and we were in the money already so I decided to bluff away at it and take whatever happened. What kind of odds was he getting to call that final $5, about 420:1?

Laughing ...or better. Some people just don't make sense. I wonder was he affraid to double you up another $5?...your right, that one does qualify for pretty stupid on his part. Good on yours. The bluff that works is always great... Laughing

The rest of the table probaby thought you were colluding. And badly at that.

So you had 3BB left...and decided to run a bluff that wasn't an all in pre-flop, committing 2/3 of your stack pre flop, almost 1/3 on the flop, and leaving yourself 5 chips behind?

I'm still undecided as to whose play was worse in this hand, yours or villains.

The responses don't make me feel much better either.

I have to say that some times, as small stack, if you just min raise preflop , people think you have a monster and want the to call. This guy was probably so ashamed in his cards he didn't want to show them off!

Well, I didn't start this thread to invite criticism of the way I played the hand. I was just hoping everyone would contribute some of the humorous and idiotic plays they have seen or have done themselves.

However, since you brought it up, I would have thought that it was obvious that the game I used in my example was LIMIT so all-in preflop wasn't an option.

LOL

I gotta go with wrong button here, or was multi tabling & just didn't pay enough attention.

It was limit, if that helps at all....

LOL, I guess I'm just one of those weirdos that likes limit. Mainly, because I can last longer in limit than I can in NL. Embarassed
