Too risky?

Posted Tue Aug 29, 2006 11:59 pm GMT by Ciso_B
I am glad he passed after obviously, but do you think this move was too risky and I was lucky maybe that the sb didnt play. My thoughts were the initial raiser was the most active at the table and the sb caller was quite cautious. But he's starting to get short here and could possibly gamble. Thoughts?

The SB smooth calling probably would have taken the move out of me personally. SB calling raises OOP always freaks me out a little.

Glad it worked out for you but I do think it's a little risky with the SB coming in. The sick thing is you have to call if SB moves in with the amount you re-raised.

Quick question, what was your plan if the CO called and you didn't flop much? Just go broke or give up? I only ask because you put so much of your stack in already.

I thought there was a high chance he was passing, and to be honest I thought once ive re raised, for him when it gets back to him , its an all in or a fold. If co just calls, im probably pushing whatever comes.

Risky move? Sure. But the situation fits the criteria for a squeeze play perfectly. You have a likely steal raise from an aggressive player and a smooth call from the blind--with the SB's stack, anything he's willing to call such a big reraise with OOP I believe he'd have just reraised himself.

Cards don't matter much here. Well played.

Side note , just busted out of this mtt. Lost some chips when i pushed ss bb all in from sb with A3, he woke up with AA nice timing. Then 99 on button sb pushes all in , i call (weve cashed at this point) , trying to accumulate chips , he flips up KsQs , he hits the nut stirahgt and leaves me realy short with like $12,500 bb 3k,. i push and steal twice i think leaving me 23k, i push ep with 6h 7h and bb things for a millenia and calls with A J, like its a tough call. Obviously I dont pair up , cos you know im me. And another shitty cash for 4hrs work.
Maybe I should get a lucky charm or quit mtts altogether , the last 2 weeks I have endless near nice money finishes but not landed a nice win. Ah well, nite fellas from "bubble boy".

I would be more worried about the initial raiser calling. Sure he is active, but active players get hands also.... I would just wait for a better spot than 52.

Yes and No. Sure, the initial raiser might be active and playing a lot of pots, but the SB hasn't. After the initial raise, the call by the SB might have been enough to scare the active player. That squeeze play plants the seed of doubt in the initial raisers mind like "well, I could call this, but the SB might end up pushing behind, so I'll lay it down".

I love the play, but I certainly don't have the stones to do it with 25o. If they were soooooooted, that's a whole other story Wink
