When the World Series of Poker came to an end on August 10 at the Rio in Las Vegas, Nevada, it seemed like the biggest prize in poker history, $12 million, had finally found a home with Jamie Gold - however it wasn't to be so, at least not yet. It seems that there is a misunderstanding about an agreement that Jamie Gold made with Bruce Crispin Leyser, who has filed court proceedings against Gold on the claim that he is owed half of the money. It seems that Gold had his way paid to the Main Event by Bodog in exchange for finding celebrities to wear Bodog apparel, and Leyser claims that Jamie agreed to pay him half of whatever he won if Leyser would help find celebrities. September 1 will be the first court hearing on this matter, and until then the $12 million prize remains unclaimed.

Yep that seems to be about the size of it.
Here's the voicemail Gold allegedly left for Leyser...
I promise you - you can keep this recording on my word - there's no possible way you're not going to get half after taxes," Jamie reportedly said about the $12 million he would go on to win. "I can't imagine you're going to have a problem with it. I just don't want any stress about any money or any of that shit going on today, or even after the end of the day."
Gold continued, "But please just trust me. You've trusted me the whole way, you can trust me a little bit more. I promise you there's no way anybody will go anywhere with your money. It's your money."

It's not in a vault by now I could almost swear on it. It is in the bank collecting interest. The Rio isn't stupid. They will make money on this money till it is decided how it gets split.

I believe the money is under a court ordered restraining order for now so yes, in the bank earning interest
As far as I can make out, Gold, approached Bodog telling them he was a big shot hollywood agent and could supply celebs (rumour has it James Gandolfini was mentioned) who would wear Bodog apparel in return for a free seat (supplied obv. by Bodog)
Apparently Gold isn't the big shot hollywood agent he claimed and so enlisted the aid of this Leyser guy (a brit living and working in L.A. in the 'industry') who had more clout than he did and promised him 50% of anything he won in exchange for his help.
Apparently Leyser supplied Mathew Lilliard and some other guy (Hardly Big T. himself ) but, allegedly, Gold promised right up to the final table to keep his end of the bargain.
Now it seems Gold has stiffed this guy who basically, if it wasn't for him he would never have played. Altho Gold's agent says they had been 'in discussions' about splitting the money before Leyser went legal on their arse (remember, he's a brit )
If all of the above is true, Gold needs to pay the man his money before this goes any further.
All of the above is internet hearsay and in no way the opinions of the author. (Just in case any lawsuits fly this way )
