Day 1-Brutal
3/6 at Mirage (only limit game going) started up big, then got AA and AK flopping 2 pair sucked out on the river by 67 calling all the way w/ bottom pair and no draw and 10 8 going runner runner straight-WTF????? Back to even after about 90 minute and then my $110 SNG was starting.
Not much action, stayed even, down to 4 and BB vs SB the SB raised 2x BB. He was raising all day and trying to run people over. I look down at AA and move all in for 3x pot-he immediately calls (I thought he would) and shows A8 suited. 8 on the flop and I didn’t even see the runner runner flush come until they pushed the pot his way. He apologized.
6/12 game started and I sat down. Never had much to play with. Then lost 2 set over sets and another big pot w/ A7 in the blind. Flop 10 7 6, I call. Turn 7, I check raise and am 3 betted-I call (fearing straight). River 6, I bet out and am raised, I just call and lose to 66 for quads. Time to get out of dodge.
Back to room for shower and grab dinner then off to Caesars. They only had 3/6 going so I sit down. VERY loose game, I cant hit a flop and drop 120-150 in 3-4 hours. I did sit next to a Canadian chick named BB who was a friend of our own Miss J. She didn’t play too good, and her husband was there, but she was still very flirtatious. I wasn’t sure what to make of it.
Off to Bellagio and play 4/8-no 8/16 game going and was on a 15/30 list that just didn’t move. The table was FULL of 1st time players. Play was EXTREMELY slow with the dealer needing to explain the rules for the each action. I was up big early, then gave it all back. It was very frustrating w/ suck out after suck out by people who really had no concept of what they were doing or where they were at hand after hand. Sometimes the dealer would say “8 to call” and I think they thought that they HAD to put 8 chips out there, many, MANY runner runner flushes and straights. I leave here even after 15-20 drinks.
Day 2-Better
Walked next door to Harrahs, nice poker room, was curious about 11am tournament and sat down for some NL. I SUCK at NL. It was $1/$2 and I started w/ $100 and was down to around $92 or so. I had Qc10c in the blind, 2 limped, one raised to $7, one called, I called, one limper folded on called. Flop 762 w/ 2 clubs. I check, raiser bets $15 button calls, I move all in. Raiser thinks forever, then call. Button thinks forever, then calls too. I was up against 99 and A7-so 3 to 1 w/ 15 outs-not bad. I miss everything and 99 wins.
I leave for an hour and come back for the tournament $55 buy in w/ a $40 rebuy. I play well for an hour and watch some decent players but a lot of fish. I am up about 50% from my starting and blind just stepped up so I have 6x the BB. I am in the blind w/ Js9s and call a min raise w/ one other. Flop is 8s7s3c. I push all in right way. Pot was 2400 and my bet was 1700. 1st player thinks forever and calls, 2nd player does the same. Turn K and player moves all in other player calls, they have AK and KQ, I don’t improve. Earlier, I folded my blind 10 6 w/ flop of J76 and a player bet 2/3 pot. He was real tight and didn’t raise preflop UTG, so I was sure he had a smallish pair (but a big pair or J10 was possible too). I wanted to push, but felt I would get a better spot. I showed my hand and said “I know I have you”-he showed 33.
Off to Wynn and 8/16. I played well, but got sucked out HUGE on a few one outers and two outers. QJ flop AQQ short stack nearly all in goes 4 bets on the turn and rivers an ace for a $300+ pot. OUCH. Leave even.
Stop and Venetian to play. I sit down and 4/8 for 1-2 hours and play is very bad and I do OK. Then a 6/12 ($3 chip game-how stupid is that!) and can’t catch a break. Play is really bad and eventually, I squeak out some profit 6 handed before breaking the table. I then move to 4/8 at 2am. It was WILD AN D CRAZY time. If you raise, someone 3 bets, then why not cap. I have played many of these game at Canterbury, so no big deal. I played squeaky tight for premium hands then any mid connector or one gapper-even calling 3-4 bets cold. If I hit a draw on the flop, bet and cap each round. I hit about 30-40% of the flopped draws-so not red hot, but w/ 7 players capping each street, each hit was $200-300 on a 4/8 game. I bought in for $100 and cashed out a lot more.
Day 3:
I went back to Bellagio after stopping at Venetian, TI, Mirage and Caesars and only seeing 3/6 games. I played 4/8 before the 8/16 game started an hour later. I played even for the 1st 12 hours, then cleaned up the last 8 hours. Yes, I sat down at 1pm and played until 9am the next morning without even a break to eat. I could have gone another 10 hours with these guys (5-6 handed for last 4-6 hours) but didn’t want to play through my last day. I made enough here to cover my previous losses and play for my trip-plus a little extra.
Interesting hands-77, someone opened w/ a raise on my right, so I 3 bet to isolate, heads up. Flop 10 2 2. He check raised me and I paused, what could he have? Wouldn’t he 4 bet AA KK QQ, would he check raise a 3 bettor w/ A10? So I reraise, he calls. Turn 3, he checks, I check. River 7, he bets out, I raise, he reraises, I 4 bet, he calls and shows AA. Nice.
Late-Q8 spades, I get stuck between raisers and just call, 4 bets preflop-no cap. Flop Js9s9c-so gutshot straight draw. Blind bets, I raise, other 3 bets, blind 4 bets, I call, other caps, we call. Turn blank, capped again. River red 10, checked to blind, he bets, I say “I am not even going to raise w/ my straight, but you trip 9s are no good. His jaw drops and goes off about me calling all those bets. Hee hee. This guy was a young LV hot shot dealer from the Wynn who thought he was the master. I stuck him for at least $500. He kept saying “all this guy does is call call call”-well, when I raise, he folds his 3rd pair. When I miss, I fold. He just kept betting his losers all night.
Another guy was funny, he was a dealer at Venetian-young guy too and I played the 6/12 at Venetian with him playing on the clock. He lost $500-600 playing VERY aggressive. As I kept stacking his chips, he kept talking about how he would break me-in a good humored way. We had one hand where I raised preflop w/ AJ and he reraised, I 4 bet-just because it was him. Flop K xx, I bet the flop, he raised, I called. Turn blank, I bet, he raised, I 3 bet and said “why do you think your AQ is good here?” He chucks his hand into the muck and said “can you F*ing see my cards or something???”. It was really an easy read, he bet the HECK out of any premium hand, he didn’t cap my 4 bet preflop, so AA KK AK were not possible, I could only lose to a lower set (not likely a good 3 bet preflop) or a crying call w/ A high better kicker.
I also had a wacky hand against a very aggressive young Asian dude, I raised AQ preflop, he 3 bet from the blind (like he had done w/ ace rag before) and was nearly all in w/ about $80 before the hand. Flop rags, he comes out betting w/ about $40-50 left, I decided he had nothing and just wanted to go to war w/ his last chips. I put him all in 6 betting the flop w/ ace high and beat his A4.
5am came around and as much fun as I was having, I needed to 1) decide that I am just not going to sleep and go until 2-3am the next day or 2) get drunk and so I can pass out for 3-4 hours. I chose option 2 and went to bed from 9:30 to 12:30pm Wed.
Day 4:
Played a 30 person tournament at IP for $50+25 rebuy. Blind went up fast, I stole some pots early then raised 100/200 blinds to 600 from late position w/ one limper. Blind called and limper reraised, I folded, blind went all in, AQ vs KK-whew. Later, right before 1st break I had 67 in the blind. I had just moved to a new table, so no reads. 5 limpers flop 10 7 6, I was going to check raise all in –surely someone had a piece or would represent a hand at a pot that is 30-50% of most stacks. No one bet. Turn 4, I bet 400 toward 1400 pot, 5 call. River 5, now someone has to have an 8 or 4, so I check, it is checked around. Small blind shows 44 for the only str8, he caught a set on the turn, or he would have been gone. I screwed up. I later moved all in w/ 36 blind from the cut off w/ blinds 200/400 and only 1100 left. Called by AK and 10 9-bye bye.
Off to Wynn and seated at 8/16 around 4pm. I had a mad rush w/ 45 and 34 suited making straights against massive pots and was up over $500 in about 45 minutes. I was going to play until 7-8pm and head for dinner and finish w/ 15/30 at Bellagio. Before I knew it, some hot Russian (Angie-local) and a hot Vietnamese gal (Wynn dealer, Tiffany-who was very touchy feely) sits on my right. Before I knew it, it was a rock garden after the 15/30 broke and I was clearly not out matching anyone. 3am came around awfully quick and I cashed out w/ a $300 profit. I should have let much earlier for greener pastures.
I stopped at Venetian to see if a 4/8 or 6/12 was going. I sat an played 12 hands before leaving. These 2 old codgers were taking a minute for every decision while talking through each option out loud. I quickly knew I couldn’t stand this at 3am. When one said “I wonder what the Chinaman is betting” I racked up. When the dealer said “you are leaving, you just sat down” I said “I am not going to play with this stupid slow ass f*ing racist”.
Bye Bye Vegas-see you in November w/ MJJ and crew????
