be very wary of someone who bets into a large field, don't call with only second pair. There's hardly any money in the pot - why gamble with a very marginal hand?

When you're second pair hits on the turn there's no way you're going anywhere.

Yeah, the call pre-flop is ok. You've got the big stack and plenty of chips so if you can get away with seeing the flop. But with three other players, second pair and no draw isn't really any good and not worth calling. He could easily have had a Jack and maybe a jack with a four flush, especially online at that limit. I think you have to pitch on the flop here.

I totally disagree.

The call preflop is NOT ok. It's fairly standard theory to not get involved in pots with marginal hands in first few levels of a sng. Doing so invariably leads to trouble and the pots are rarely worth the risk.

Truly...

Fold preflop!

It makes no sense to me to call someone out for getting involved with a marginal hands when the blinds are very low, unless that player can't fold after connecting. The risk is low and the rewards can be fairly high. Better for him to wait until the blinds give him around ~15x the BB to play trash?

The call preflop was fine, the call on the flop was very marginal, the call on the turn...well you've got to ask yourself why does villian keep firing away? The river bet, I have to think you talked yourself into that one.

The hands you can beat on the river that make sense are J8, something like QQ and KK (not likely) and busted draws. If you are putting him on J8 the call on the flop makes no sense (it barely makes sense anyways) if you put him on the draw why just keep calling?

What bothers me is he limped, and is now very aggresive. Something is not right here. So we either put him on J8 or better and you can't beat anything better.

I dont like the turn smooth call to be honest, cos if the draw hits I think you're paying him off anyway ?
The call on the flop i disagree with everyone else, I don't mind the call so much on the flop, i mean he could have 78 suited or some kind of draw like flush draw or 10-9 open ended, I don't mind peeling off a card with A-8 on that flop.
However, you have played the whole hand very passively and I personally don't think you analysed the hand or knew where you were in any part of it.
Just my 2 cents.
