my time is running out...

I'm playing with the last bits of my BR - as I decided not to redeposit again until I improve my game by
A. Reading some books
B. playing some decent poker with what I have.

So I am using the little that I have to play the tightest game possible. Sit with the table min try to double up and leave...

but then this happen :
http://www.pokerhand.org/?484848

Sure - there are many hands that can beat me in this situation but I simply didn't put villain on any of them - was thinking he might have a top pair , and was willing to chase my flush draw.
probably a bad call - but you have to admit, to be beaten by runner runner is simply sick!

and now this just happened :

Again runner runner but this time I think I played correctly...

I would have quitted , though with the few pennies that left in my BR, might as well spend these as well Smile

ps. I'm not quitting poker , am just taking the time to regroup , learn the basics and try to make my money back. (heck, am only playing this game for 2 month)

I dont consider the first one a bad beat since all you had was a draw. He had 6 outs on the flop then 9 outs on the turn. A bad beat to me at least is 3 outs or less.

Ok, might not been a bad beat but loosing to runner runner is always sick..
I was in front on the flop with 9 outs (8 minus his Q) to make the nuts - he actually only had 5 outs (one of his K will make my flush)
on the turn I now had open ended str8 to add to the nuts...
so now he was down to 4 outs - 2 K out of the 3 remaining and 2 J's...

On the first one, as far as outs goes on the flop it looks like you had

15 outs, Nine spades plus 3 jacks and 3 aces. But since not knowing what he had and you placed him on a hand like A 10 then you would say 12 outs. 9 spades plus 3 jacks. So your 12 outs vs his 6 outs.

Then again first to act, all in. He could have flopped a set which would have reduced your outs alot because the only spades you could have used were ones that wouldn't pair the board.

This has nothing to do with that beating but, try taking a break from Texas Holdem and try Omaha. It'll help you spot hands that you normally don't see in texas holdem. Just know that a pair in omaha will likely lose. You want straights, flushes, and full houses. Quads are seen more often ( i beat a guys quads with a straight flush once, ouch!) but it can help improve your texas holdem game

Dont put your whole bank roll in Omaha though, for a Texas holdem player omaha can be tough and frustrating.

Actually, in the first hand , villain was last to act..
I was thinking about check-rasining - which was probably a mistake considering my stack size and villain stack size. If I followed with a continues bet like I normally do when betting preflop I believe every body would have folded to me.
In this situation that was probably my biggest mistake.
I donīt know how, but I knew villain to not have a monster. Last to act, every body checking and you go allin - this is not saying , I want callers.
And I was right. He had less then nothing with no real draws on that flop.

As for omaha, I actually manage to profit a lot from omaha for a while. Until my boats where faced by bigger ones...

I'm not blaming my luck, I simply need to check my A game again.
