Bonus Whoring, What Games To Play? |

I'm actually going to answer this myself, but your suggestions and ideas are welcome
I'm about to start on a bonus whoring tour and i'm trying to come up with the perfect plan to (a) get the maximum bonus for my buck, and (b) clear the bonuses (bonii?) as quickly as possible.
I'm thinking that i don't want to be playing NL holdem cos i'm not going to be properly rolled to cope with variance (what's new ) Most bonuses require you to clear raked hands, where a raked hand is a hand where you have contributed to the pot and the house rakes at least 50c (that seems to be standard pretty much everywhere?) To play NLHE I think i'd have to be playing at least .5/$1 to reach the required rake most hands and it would take me forever cos i'd be playing quite tight.
Fixed Limit is right out because i suck at it, again i wouldn't be playing all that many hands and i think i'd need to play at $3/$6 to get the required rake most hands.
So I'm thinking... The ideal game for ME would be $1/$2 Stud. I'd say I'm at least break even at stud, I could comfortably sit in with $50, I'd have to pay an ante every hand (hopefully that would meet the rake requirements?) Even on hands i have no intention playing i may still have to pay the bring in and most every hand at an 8 handed stud table would pay the rake at $1/$2.
So now i just got to hope that (a) stud is avaliable on the sites i'll be whoring at and (b) that i don't get too badly varianced early on
I will be blogging the results if you want to follow my progress at turning $0 into $10000000's or as it will be subtitled, 'How to turn $20 into $53.25 and then go broke playing stud'
My blog is avaliable by clicking the blog link at the bottom of this post

Why not 1/2 Full table Hold Em? Do you think you are better at Stud?

FLHE is my weakest of the 3 games. NLHE my strongest. I think for me stud will provide the best in bankroll requirements and raked hand requirements as well as more raked hands per hour.
As i progress I think i may switch to NLHE and possibly multi table to increase the raked hand count. (some sites include any hand you are dealt into which reaches the min rake requirement as a raked hand while others demand that you contribute to the pot)

On Party Poker I bought in for the 100$ bonus they just had. august reload.Had to play 1000 raked hands..I sat down at 15 .10c .25c tables.. with 10 bucks on each.. only played SB BB and pocket pairs, never bluffed and pushed all in when i had a good hand.Got the bonus out in like 4 hours ...maybe less.and ended up winniing about 65$ in the process.

Exactly! on Party you can fold away every single hand on the .10/.25 NL tables and you will come out ahead.
I've found that about 65-70% of the hands are raked on that level.
1000 raked hands to clear $100 bonus.
65% of hands get raked=1538 hands played total
that's about 160 orbits at .35 per orbit= $56
100-56= 44 profit.

If it is rake hands, then play the lowest blind structure. If it is based on rake paid or a points system based on stakes, then limit games are likely better (since the mean pot is larger).

How about reading a book on Omaha. It's a great game, and if you put the time in, it really pays off.

I agree, I made most of my bonus on Fulltilt playing PL Omaha.
in the lower levels loads of players play omaha like it was Holdem. Thinking their pocket pairs are worth something , and playing TP as the nuts..

Yep, it's a great game, but I was thinking more along the lines of Limit for someone with a fixed bankroll. PL can get downright nasty!

Yep - that how I lost all what I made - PL swings ..
Though admittedly I really don't know the game enough - starting hands , whats that? raising preflop - almost never. Seeing every flop, sure, why the hell not!
The only way to make money for me in omaha was to play against people who knew even less!!

1/2 stud is a good bet in my opinion. I've been playing that on ps and pretty much everyhand qualifies. That, and stud is probably my favorite game now, even though I've only been playing it for about a month or so.
