ill set the scene....5 way $5 dollar buy in. 3 people left.there was a big stack and two even stacks. i was a even stack. got ace 2 of clubs...on the big blind. the big stack folded and the other even stack called me. i raised a blind basically asking for a call. he called.flop came out jack 9 7 clubs! i had the nuts! he raised me $200 and considering we only had $1000 each,it was a big raise. so i decided to slow play it and called the raise after a small delay thinking im gonna double up and take hin out. next card was a 3 of clubs. again i thought maybe he has got a king or something decent as he bets $400 leaving him with $400. so i put him all in this time and he calls to turn over 2 pair....jacks and sevens...the river was a JACK!! giving him the full house!! complete joke!!

did i do anything wrong here or was it just a bad beat????

Fold PF.

J/k. This was a "bad beat".

Welcome to the forum.

Don't slow play vulernable hands like flushes. I can't say the outcome wouldn't be the same if you pushed after the flop. Chances are he would have called you and caught the same out to win, but it would have made him think when you push that perhaps he was beat and should lay it down. Welcome to the forum.

Flush is vulnerable?
Yeah, it can be beaten by a boat , quads or a better flush...
I wouldn't call that vulnerable.
If you got a the nut flush, and the board isn't paired, and no str8 flush draws are present, I say you can slow play.
Thats a bad beat, no way you can see that coming and probably no way to prevent it. Sure, you could have re raised on the flop or even push allin - but you really want to get more money when you got the closest thing to the nuts...
You played it well!!

A flush is not a vulnerable hand, especially heads up. I think he played it fine with the exception of not pushing PF.

Um, so it is not a vulnerable hand, but you want him to push??

I thought he played it fine. Got the guy in with only 4 outs.

Usually you won't get a guy to call once there is 4 clubs in the board, but you found yourself a <*>))))><.

Sorry he sucked out on you.

From what I understand from OPs post, he only had 5-7BBs left before the hand started. So if you'd like, you can check in his position, or even MIN RAISE like he did. Proper strategy is to push.

And what does A2c pushing PF with 6 BB and the "vulnerability of a flush" have in common for you to raise that question?

Kind of odd, I thought.

Proper strategy is to push according to who???? You are heads up & flopped the nuts. I don't think proper strategy is to push at all.

Sorry, thought PF meant Post Flop. I see it probably meant pre flop. I agree, all in or fold. Little raise does nothing.

Yeah, PF = Pre Flop.

I didn't mean push the flop necessarily...Slow playing that is probably better.

OP: What were the blinds?

PS: 8Tc is the nuts.

Doh! True dat!

Also I would add why I would be less willing to slow play... Not out of fear that I would get beat, but out of fear that another club comes & I would lose all my action! Although if the guy has a naked K or Q of clubs, it might get me action.

River card sucked, but you played it right. Let the otehr guy bust himself out unless he stops betting. Hitting his boat there against your flush is fairly rare, and a push post suited flop likely would have seen a fold. I'ld have played this slow any and every time.
