Playing above your bankroll.... |

Since I bought in online I have stuck by not playing more than 5% of your bankroll in one sitting, but lately I have felt like I have been able to beat a higher limit game, even though my BR only has about 10 max buyins. What are your opinions on playing above your roll if you think you have the talent?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

You can still go broke. Bankroll management keeps you in it when you're not running so good.

QFT.
And you only know that you can beat the game if you can actually consistantly win after many many hands. Try not to let short term results dictate where you play.

If you have 20 times your normal buy in and 10 times the next buy in, I don't see a problem with giving the higher game a shot occasionally. Maybe you get to 22 times your BR and try the higher game with your 'extra two buy-ins.' But don't make it a habit until you've established yourself at the lower limit and built up enough to handle the swings. /i

Nothing wrong with stepping up once in a while. Just make sure you can step back down before your broke.
I should really listen to my own advice....
