WPT - North American Poker Championships... anyone playing?

Posted Thu Sep 07, 2006 1:15 am GMT by Leafs42084
For those of you who dont know, theres a WPT event in the Fallsview Niagara Casino in Ontario! I think is a pretty big deal for Canada, great way for Canada to showcase of its poker players too...

Anyone planning on playing? the event is for Oct 25th.

There are satellites being played at Fallsview everyday as we speak...

OPTION #1

Step 1 - $90 (1 table, 10 people)
1st Place - seat in $640 satellite
2nd place - replay in $90 satellite

Step 2 - $640 (2 table, 20 people)
1st place - NAPC Main event entry (worth $10300)
2nd place - seat in $1200 satellite
3rd place - replay in $640 satellite

OR

OPTION #2

Step A - $160 (1 table, 10 people)
1st place - seat in $1200 Satellite
2nd place - replay in $160 Satellite

Step B - $1200 (1 table, 10 people)
1st place - NAPC main event ($10,300)
2nd place - replay in $1200 Satellite

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basically if you pay more for option 2, you get to keep the tourny's one table instead of it jumping to 2 table. The blinds also move slower and you start with more chips.

I dont know if this is allowed, if the following isnt, mods you can remove it. I just got back from Fallsview today and entered the $160 tourny and believe it or not won! So now I have a $1200 Voucher into Step B where the first place wins the 10G seat in the NAPC. The Voucher/Token is transferable. My friends are telling me that I should sell it since it is a lot of money and Im a student that could really use the money if I were to sell it. I was wondering if anyone was planning on buying into hte $1200 level? If so, i'd be willing to sell my Voucher worth $1200 for $1000.... so that the person buying would get a $200 discount...

If anyone has any interest, leave a post or PM me, i'd gladly meet you at Fallsview casino to give you the voucher and verify it with the cashiers

thanks!

PS. Do you guys thinks that I should play or try and sell? Im a pretty good tourny player and have won a few 30-40 man tournys in underground poker places, and generally do well with tournys. However, like my friends state, I am a student and could use a grand. Also, if I were to play in teh NAPC, I am sure I would be out of my league. But at the same time, i'd gain valuable experience

if anyone has any opinions, let me know!

thanks!

sure a grand is a lot of money, but I say play!

You wouldn't be able to look at your self at the mirror if you wont give it a shut.

Of course, if you play and lose you will hate all of us!

I think you really have to decide how you see the future of poker in your life.
If it is just a hobby, that might or might not bring a little money - then by all means , sell it and stick to lower levels game.
if you plan to take it a little more seriously , give it a go. Even if you lose, it is still a great lesson. You got 1 table to play in, chances are some of the other player in the table will be slightly richer fish - so getting ITM should be possible. Even if you do lose - like you said its a great experience.

I'm a losing poker player - so far, with no real income and a family to support , if I was in your situation - I would have played the game Smile

However, if you actually win this - selling the $10K is a total different story.

well I went to Fallsview today... and watched a Step B tourny table for about 2 hours, and realized that I could place since the competition wasnt that stiff....

but when they called my table and I sat down, I realized looking aroudn that they all looked like seasoned poker vets.... I recognized 2 from underground poker places and theyre both very very good...

I realized I was out of my league... so I made the decision right there to sell my Voucher to a guy at my table.... sold for $1060....

I think if I had placed 1st or 2nd, I would have needed a LOT of luck, and think I made the right decision...

I will be back to try the $160 again....
