The only thing I would have done different is Cap it prefop or don't raise at all. I would probably not have put him on a flush on that river considering he called your flop bet with only 1 of his suit. I may have put him on the straight on the river, but at that point there was too much money in the pot to fold your hand.

I agree, bet more preflop, so that the times that he doesn't hit running outs - you take more of his money (which will be the majority of the time).

capping preflop with a good hand, but not a top tier hand like AQo is a bad idea

Why is capping or not raising at all better than raising and calling the 3-bet?
