I'll post my trip report elsewhere but this hand stood out to me as the most difficult decision I had to make. I was card dead for most of the session and to make matters worse my timing was off most of the time. My reads (cards) were very good but my reads (players) were not, a fancy way of saying I didn't think the hands they held could call but they did anyways.
To the hand...
I look down at A A and it's $15 to go at my $1-$2 NL game from early position. Folded around to me in the SB and I decide to smooth call which brings in the BB as well. Flop is
3 7 Q
I decide I'm no longer slow playing this and lead out for $40. BB folds and Villian looks a little suprised, thinks about it for about 5 seconds and announces he's all in. I ask for a count and see it's another $260. I have a little over $300 back so it's for most of my stack.
I've not seen Villian get out of line too bad, and I just watched him slow play his set (boat) so I'm confused.
I'm having trouble putting him on a hand and even more putting him on one I'd like to call.
I go into the tank for about 90 seconds, announce his hand and call...
Thoughts? I'll post the results later.

If he knows you folded nearly everything to there then he must think you have a pair of queens or better. In which case i think he has you with two pair or a set. If he hadn't made too many bold moves then i'd guess at hitting a set of queens or 2nd set.
Tricky to tell though.

Two pair? Very unlikely on that board.
I'd say our biggest suspects are AA, KK (much more likely than AA since you have the other two Aces), and the dreaded QQ or 77 (33 seems an unlikely candidate for such a huge pre-flop raise from EP). You have the A , so that rules out A K . Is K J a realistic possibility against the character? AQ seems a little unlikely if this guy is as solid as you suspect, especially since he can't have the A .
Considering he's in position though and likes to slowplay (particularly considering he's in position), I'm less likely to believe he has a set, unless he knows that you are the type to bet flush draws aggressively.
Definitely a tough decision. I wasn't there so I can only speculate, but about the only thing I can see him having that we can beat is KK or a very badly played AQ. Other than that, it seems like there is a better than normal chance we're against 3 Queens. Go with your gut here, which obviously said call. But you definitely have enough behind that you can lay this down, which I'd honestly consider.
So my answer is... I'm totally stumped. I'd have to be there because I honestly can't tell you what I'd do.

I could have sworn I put that in right before I said KJ, but I see I didn't. Yeah, that's the other big possibility.

AQ, KQ, QJ is my thinking. Possible slow played hands might be QQ, KK or AA.

I decided KK was the only hand I could put him on that made sense. Villain did not seem like the kind of player who would move all in with KQ of clubs, and AQ also seemed out of line for him. There was next to no chance he held QQ due to how he played his top set a few hands earlier to the same type of board and he was out of position that hand. He kept checking and calling until the river when he made his move. His big tell on that hand however was how he checked, open palm and very deliberate like he was really trying to sell weakness. I saw him do that against a buddy of mine on the table and thought, my buddy is in for a world of hurt.
I considered 33 and 77 for most of my tank time, but it seemed unrealistic with the BB folding he'd play it that fast. A simple reraise or even a smooth call would make more sense. He was a "tricky" player in the sense I think he liked to slow play hands he felt were not easily beaten but I could tell was VERY comfortable with his hand. He wouldn't make eye contact with me but seemed very calm like he could care less if I called or not. It didn't seem like a show given I had seen him "act" a few hands earlier and this one was far more natural. That last part was what was bothering me, what hand wouldn't care?
I strongly considered mucking it and told myself if I couldn't find a hand that made sense I could beat I was going to, but then KK popped into my head late and it all made sense. I said "Well I can beat Kings so I call" and flipped my hand over. The look on his face said it all, he was surprised to see my hand. He didn't show me, but as he got up I asked him if he held KK, he nodded and walked away.
It's a little embarrassing that it took me a full minute to even consider KK, and I got a few strange looks at my end of the table that it took me that long to call with AA, but screw them it was my money and this hand would go a long way toward putting me back into the black or making it a brutal session.

Nice read. And you were justified in taking your time before calling. I know I certainly would have.
