without any previous reads , its hard to tell.

Often in low level min raise equal hugh hands. So yes, it could be he his holding rockets .
I think I would have reraised preflop - A's would normally reraise again and I would happily lay it down (yeah , right!)

That Novice guy really scared me when he bet the minmum ammount, then called the RE-raise. i had eerie visions of A-2 there. then when the other re-popped 800 i was shocked (and pissed off cause i didnt get to see what they had) novice folded after i did. he probably just had 2 hearts.

Can I ask why you were willing to throw 400 at it in the flop but preflop only smooth called a miniraise?

Don't we want to raise preflop, especially the mini-raise to narrow the field and hopefully find out right now where we are.

BTW, mini raises on low limits might mean AA or KK but I've found it more reliable personally that it is often a small/middle pair or marginal hand, sometimes AK.

What I hate most about miniraises with something like 10's is if I just call and the flop brings even a single overcard I'm likely done because there is going to be 4+ people in the pot. I don't enjoy playing 10's only for the set.
