All depends on your table. If they are very tight and selective players, loosen up and see 30-40% of flops. If your table is loose and very agressive, tighten up and reduce that figure to anywhere around 15-25%.

These are just guidelines however, don't let the amount of flops you've seen determine whether or not you play a specific hand.

What stakes are you playing? Something to take into account is that if you're playing smallish stakes, a lot of players simply don't pay enough attention to realize how many hands you're playing.

Hope this helps.

in a typical session my flop percentage will fall somewhere between
15-23% It just depends on what cards I get in late position.

Are you playing fixed limit or no limit? A good player can play looser in a no limit game than a good player can in a limit game.

I don't think this matters much. You shouldn't be trying to steal pots in loose passive games anyway.

If you are in a tournament flop percentage is a dangerous number to hang your hat on. At the beginning you will see fewer hands because the hand values are lower against 9 or 10 people than towards the end. It gets down to 3 people and the blinds are huge, you can't be waiting for a top 10 hand. And heads-up...you are in trouble (statistically) if you are folding even half the time, pre-flop.

So the number needs to change as the tourney progresses--in a Sit'n Go it changes quickly over the course of the small number of hands you get. It a big multi, you will not last long seeing 30 or 40% of flops. You may get some great breaks in the beginning and build a big lead, but you'll squander it seeing too many hands. I frequently see people with huge leads who continue to see 50%--even 65+%--of flops and they always go down the tubes unless they tighten up.

In a ring game, as suggested above...it totally depends on the table...could be as low as 15%-20% or as high as 40%.

Additionally, it's not just how many...it's how aggressively and intelligently you play the hands you see. Just limping in the "ideal" number of times (if there were an ideal) wouldn't get it done.

I thought I was playing too tight in my last MTT, but I was still seeing about 25% of the flops. I was amazed it was that high as much as I was folding. I got to see my BB for free nearly every time though and my small blind was usually prices in by like 5 limpers and it was 9 handed so that probably jacked up the % a bit.

If it's one of those turbo games, there's no reason to not call every big blind each time before they get huge in 10 minutes.

I do this, because of how passive my table is and because of my unattainble, unreasonable post flop skills... and my lucky two-dollar bill.
