I've wanted to do this for a long time (or: 7-2os rules!)

Posted Fri Sep 15, 2006 10:02 pm GMT by Gogie
This is a bit of a long story. The first hand cost me a ton of chips to a real gear box. He got lucky after pushing with two overcards and a flush draw and crippled me, leaving me with only 355 chips. He'd been playing like a donkey the whole tournament, but got lucky a few times (including this hand, although I can't say this was necessarily a donk play on his part, just a little questionable).

After building my stack back up a bit I pulled off the following donk play!!! I was getting a little loose and decided to defend my blind with 7-2os. Didn't figure to get called, but had to laugh at the outcome. How many of you have pushed with 7-2os, been called and won? Not many, I bet.

Just for the record, I proceeded to knock off johngma in the next two hands. He was pathetic - the only reason he got where he was was because of a lot of luck. It was fun to come back and put a cork in him.

you seem pretty aggressive preflop in some of those hands considering the chip stack size ... is that how you usually play or did you do it mostly because you thought he was likely to call you with something a lot weaker?

My aggressive play was player specific. This guy was really weak; he made a lot of dumb calls and moves throughout so I figured I could be ultra aggressive.
