At the local casino here the 2/5NL has a cap of 300 bucks max and 100 min. Is it just me or 300 way to low for the stakes. I seam to burn threw like 50-60 bucks in blinds after 2-3 hours if we are short handed. Last night for example seeing couple flops and not even getting involved in hands i was already down like 85 bucks after 3 hours. Just curious on what you guys think.

300 is low, but not unreasonable. Many clubs I've been to have $100 cap on $1/$2 (50 BB). In my mind, anything less than that is absurd and does not promote good play (unless you like going all-in pre-flop or on the flop a LOT). Although at one club I frequent, they have a $100 cap on a $2/$4 game. Shocked Needless to say, I only play Limit there.

If you're uncomfortable with the buy-in amount, I just wouldn't play. But any time buy-ins are shorter, it means the crucial hand decisions are usually made earlier and earlier in the hand, and going all-in on the flop with very strong draws becomes a better and better play.

At Hollywood park, buyin on the 2/3 game is 100, 2/5 is 200, 5/10 is 400. Yikes. Its a low buyin, I always plan for 2 or 3 rebuys to get me on my feet.

Yes on the $100 buy-in for $1/$2. They also have an even more insane $2/$5 NL with $200 max buy-in (same game at Lucky Derby as well).

Even more insane, Cache Creek has a $100 buy-in for $2/$4.

Every casino in Los Angeles has brutally low buy-ins. The highest buy-in to play $1/$2 NL is $50 (25 BBs!!) at Hustler, most others only allow $40!! You have to get lucky being a pushmonkey to get a stack started.
