You're given a gift of a hand, and the best you can come up with is check twice then bet the min on the river. Way to try and maximize your winnings......

Meh, you dont get much action by flopping monster made hands anyways, chances are there wasnt much money to be had...

No, i'll tell you why people dont win. Because they go on 30+ minute runs of losing every hand they play at every one of their tables. I'm honestly starting to doubt if i can win in online poker. Everytime i get a few small wins in a row the next couple sessions i get bitch slapped with big losses. Example, this morning i had two small winning sessions ($3 and $6) followed by 2 big losing sessions ($5 and $7). Its just getting depressing when im playing every session from start to end from behind almost every time.

Disagree... it depends on how you play them, although in this particular case you've basically crippled the deck.

At the very least, this guy could have raised preflop and picked up THAT money. What a terrible play.

But Jefecaminador brings up a good point about why many players are chronic losers... it's a twofold problem.
1. They don't bet enough with their good hands and thus lose value because they want to get "paid".
2. They bluff too much (because they want to "get opponents off their hand") or call too often with their bad hands and thus lose value there as well.

Yeah, I know what you're saying about made hands not making much, but he could of raised a decent amount at any stage of the hand. Sure, he probablly won't get called, but you know what? You won't get paid off at all if you don't at least TRY and make a bet. If the only play you know how to make when you have the nuts is to check and hope someone bets into you, then you should rethink how you play poker.

This guy was a chump. Frankly, I raise that bad boy pre-flop to $4. Hoping at least one twit calls. Then when I see the flop then I continuation bet. Either continuation on the turn or push. Same with the river. Big thing is I hope to keep someone in this hand all the way to the end or at least get the most chips out of it that I can.

I love slowplayers:

- Dependable.
- Low variance.
- Lose little.
- Draw cheaply.

Well, the thing about slowplayers is that usually they have the wrong style to pull it off... ie they're usually nits. Slowplaying is a much more effective weapon in the hands of a loose player whose checks and check-raises are not immediately interpreted as strong. When you see a a very tight player check/call a flop and then check/raise minimum on the turn, you can usually be sure of 2 things:

1. He has a monster hand.
2. He has misplayed this hand horribly.

And yet so many tight players do this because they want "value." But that's silly, because most of the time they would make more money if they just bet their hand straight-forwardly. In fact, any time I see a nitty player check/call a flop, it usually sets off a slight warning in my head, or at least a caution alert; however, I wouldn't suspect as much from a looser player who frequently check/calls on early rounds and doesn't necessarily have to have anything.

I used to be a real fan of slowplaying, but now I almost never use it, particularly in the form of check-raising. Now I usually prefer to pull the stop-and-go when I've slowplayed something, because many players haven't quite figured out how to interpret this move yet.

Wat is this stop and go you speak of?

Basically, if I'm out of position I check and call on one street and then lead with a bet on the next street.

One problem, and it was my biggest leak until recently, is over betting the flop/bet sizing.

They pair their A or K and bet so much that no one will call them except a maniac, and if that maniac hits they lose a bigger pot.

Now days I give opponents only slightly bad odds to call and they usually do. If they don't make their draw I get a little bit bigger pot and if they do hit, I am not losing much.

gr8est hand ever played............

i h8 to slowplay, too many thinks need to be goin on for it to be successful. not onl that, but slowplaying makes your bluffs less credible.

Has anyone tried to use the go and stop approach successfully? When you lead the flop with a monster hand, then check/call the turn?

I guess it would only work against a really aggressive player, and where if they were on a draw and hit, your hand would still beat theres.

I still slow play quads.
