How long till you broke through MTT? |

I've started playing nearly exclusively MTT's lately. Most are 800-1300 people and I've entered about 12 so far. I've placed in the money about 5 times bubbled out 3 times but only made a serious run at the money once when I came in 46th place when my Kings got run down by KJ after we got it in pre-flop.
I seem to be snake bitten latter in these things, I just can't win a race when the money is in the middle and most of the time I've started with the best hand.
I know my sample is small, and I'm probably just running bad latter in them (could be I'm not playing well though) but I wonder how long it took some of you to reach the final table if not win one of them.
Just looking for a silver lining. Maybe it’s playing for a few hours only to end up with nothing or maybe it’s I can’t win a race when it matters but I’m frustrated.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. if yer placing in 5/12 mtts, thats pretty damn good, so i wouldnt beat yourself up over it...my experience is that in online play, tournies of that size turn into a push fest in later levels...the blinds just get way too out of control...i'm talking about party tho...anyways, when i would get far in those tournies, the top like 100 places were almost totally dependent on luck

I'm really spoiled in MTTs, but I haven't played many so it is just variance.
But in MTTs, you have to get in so many races that you'll bust out more often than not even if you keep getting your money in as a favourite. That's just how it goes...if you keep rolling the die to stay alive...then most of the time you'll end up rolling a 1 at some point.
So I guess the typical MTT career is 'play many' and 'win big' at rare occasions.
