Oh boy... a couple weeks ago Webby and Leafs got in a major tiff over this very issue. The meat of the discussion is that they're only showing select hands and Daniel IS a good player, etc etc. But yes, based on what they've chosen to show, it seems that Daniel is often convinced he's beat or says "I KNEW you had that" when it's too late and has been giving some action with marginal hands. However, he's also been supremely unlucky in some episodes, like when Gus Hansen turned quads on him or Mimi Tran turned or rivered a higher straight to Daniel's flopped straight.

He slow plays too much, for a guy labeled as "aggresive" he sure checks a lot when he has it and can't lay down a hand after the board get scary.

I still think he's a hell of a player but his rep and the way he played sure clashed.

maybe he doesn't want to be bluffed on television... I dunno, but he really is a POW on that show.
I really like him by the way , and still think hes a cracking player. Also, he plays pretty loose so its even harder to know where you're at in a hand , but he some calls he made were pretty bad. Like the Q-9 call against sammy?

On a sidenote, from what I've seen from freedy deeb on wpt, wsop, and now high stakes poker. I think hes one of the best players around. He makes alot of correct decisions in marginal spots.

In fairness, most of the time when Daniel bets, he's just picking up dead money on the flop or turn, and that doesn't make for very exciting TV. The thing with Daniel is that his checks give you no information whatsoever... he may have nothing, the nuts, or any hand in between. That's what makes him a difficult opponent to play against.

I agree, but he makes some very unusual plays as well and sometimes seems to have his radar malfunction. If you watch the 2006 WPT Battle of Champions, the 2002 Five-Diamond Classic (where everyone self-destructed against Gus Hansen), or the 2004 Plaza Championships (where he gets head-up with Negreanu), you'll see what I mean. But I agree, Freddy is one hell of a player.
