Hi all
I participated in an home game last friday, and as opposed to previous home games we now played cash games instead of tournaments.
Although I liked the format we adopted, no boring sit-outs after being knocked out for example, it certainly lead to frustrations.
The bigges one is of course that we played fixed limit as no one want to loose all their cash in two hands, and I experienced time and time again that a great starting hand, or a great flop would be beaten by someone hitting runner runner for a flush or trips.
In a no-limit game or a tournament its of course basic to push those people out on the flop but in fixed limit thats just not possible and I suffered from it and ended up loosing money on the night against players I have handily beaten before in no limit tournaments.
So whats the tactic to adopt here? Online my tactic is easy, dont play fixed limit. But when I have to...Is it to play to their game, and stay in hands where I am behind, or see more flops? Just ignore this as one night and in the long run I should still win?
I know there are fixed limit gods in here, so advices are appreciated :D

Fixed limit is a game of draws, and maximum return on good hands. You want to play mostly your best starting cards and shy away from mediocre pairs and drawing hands in early position. Don't waste a lot of bets by playing junk up front. Most of your hands will be played from late position. If you don't hit your hand and don't have a real draw, you have to be willing to release it. You have to avoid drawing to hands you don't have the odds to hit and you have to put a lot of pressure on people who do draw to hands they shouldn't.

This is where I struggle as people just flat call max best with poor drawing hands and still hit their draw in far to many hands..But I guess playing the percentage game, it will even out in the long run

You should pick up Winning Low Limit Hold Em by Lee Jones and there's also a book by Sklansky about low limit holdem. Good stuff.
