Casino Comp: reserved seating in sportsbook

Posted Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:20 pm GMT by MJJ
I go to Vegas a few times a year and am enrolled in several of the players club/comp programs. My question is if anyone has been able to find a casino that is willing to reserve seating in the sportsbook (for NFL games on Sun) in exchange for playing Hold em. The casino's I have contacted say 'no' but I have seen that most of the sportsbook seating is reserved every Sunday morning...
There will be at least four of us playing mid+ stakes.
If anyone knows how to get this perk let me know.
Thanks, MJ

I dont think they do that. In fact, most poker rooms are run almost completely independant of the rest of the casino for comps.

You might want to check out Harrahs, nice poker room next to the sport book and not quite as much traffic as the rest of the casinos.

yeah- that seems to be the case. Funny thing is that the casino's are quick to comp the room but a seat in the sportsbook is not possible...

Caesar's has it's poker room next to the SB too.

I didn't realize they reserved tables in the sports book for any reason. Huh, that's news.

Bellagio has a huge sportsbook right next to poker too, might be a place to check.

I stayed at Bellagio last year during NFL- all the tables (hightops on the right, towards the front/cashiers and the corner booths) were reserved for people by casino hosts as well as all the horse racing terminals (although someone there told me they are mainly reserved by people willing to bet big on a couple races in order to get them.) The leather chairs were 1st come, 1st serve (although by 7am there was nothing in the room left except the video poker bar- I spent a couple hundred bucks on v poker to keep my seat and 'free' drinks)

I have checked around and it looks like the reserved seating is only for high stakes players from table games (blackjack, roulette, bacarat- NOT poker)

on the plus side, it seems easy to get a cheap (or even free) room anywhere thru the poker room

Where can you get a free room at? Does that also mean 8 hours of poker minimum a day?

This seems about right, you can lose thousands to the house in these games but in in poker you're only paying the rake.

You can get a 'Casino Rate' (typically 25-50% off anywhere for playing ~6 hours per day- so 3 hours each if you have 2 per room) and if you play high enough stakes and/or long enough they will pick up meals (which you should be charging to your room during the trip) and/or pick up the room for a night or for the whole trip. the key si to make the reservation thru the Poker Room of the casino and talk to the shift superviser before check out.

So why the big room discounts and comps for poker players if they arent making that much off of them compared to other players? Just trying to bring more people into the casino??

It is actually the lowest comps for poker...
If you play Blackjack at $10 per hand for 4 hours per day you can get a free room easily (not Ceasars or bellagio, but at Aladdin or somewhere decent) but for a free room playing poker you need to play 10 hours a day at 2/5 NL or you need to play higher stakes...
Webby is exactly right- at 2/5 NL the house probably makes $20 per hour off you (rake) where fi you play $10 per hand Blackjack (much lower risk for you) the house should make 3X that
