Hand 1: Shit happens...

Hand 2: Fold pre-flop. After that, it was played horribly on every street.

Flop: Re-raise him.
Turn: Don't know why you are checking here...
River: Your two pair is worthless. Any ace has you beat.

After 10 mins of thinking time it has occurred to me that really neither of these were bad luck in terms of being out drawn with slim odds by an idiot, but that i improved into a hand i didn't know already had me beat, pretty much.

These two hands both look hard to get away from.

What do you think?

I ask my self the questions:

1) Why did he call to begin with, preflop?
2) Why did he raise me on the flop with bottom pair?

I checked the turn because i thought he might have an ace, part of me said that he also had nothing and raised with something like KQ.

On the river, i was in no doubt he had something, but after improving i thought i would have had him.

I certainly didnt expect him to flip over 23.

Hand 1. Remember that villain reraised preflop which usually means a big hand. After he check raises you on the flop you know you are a huge dog (vs AA or AK) or there will be a split. Let the hand go while you haven't invested too much

Hand 2. As mentioned before you can't even beat any Ace. Use your position and check for a free showdown.

Hand 1 is more unlucky than hand 2. Both disasters could have been averted, however.

Hand #2- Why miniraise with a marginal hand like K10? Either raise or call.. Bet the flop like you mean it and if he reraises you I see no reason to go broke with the hand after the board pairs low, your two pair is not the likely winner there. Value betting with second pair after you got cute preflop is not sound play IMO.

Hand #1- Although you were probable to go broke there I have no idea why you'd smooth call preflop and then check that flop with the intention of check raising all in. What is going to call you down that you have beat besides MAYBE KQ. (unless this guy is crazy)

Hand 1, not much to say there. Just poker.

Hand 2 - Not sure what you are doing there... There are so many ways to be beat. You can't beat any ace or any 3 and there is a straight out there. Calling all in with 2nd pair.... You can't go broke there.... There was just no reason for it.

Hand 1, you just got unlucky.

Hand 2, he played it bad, but you played it worse. This is definitely one of those 'learn from your mistakes' kinds of hands.

I really think you need to rethink that.... You can't get away from 2nd pair with an ace on the board??

Since the board was paired, you didn't really improve much.... You still had 2nd pair. Instead of 10's, you had K's... That is a marginal improvement at best. If the board wasn't paired, I can see you going to battle with 2 pair, but losing all your chips with 2nd pair by CALLING an all in, you need to learn from that.

First hand i probably reraise him preflop. If he just smooth calls this you know if we hit the flop we have a hand that beats him. If we get reraised big you can safely lay it down. This is assuming villian is just a abc poker player. Flop, he wont call your all in with any hand you beat so the all in is not a good move.

Second hand, KTo is trash and easily dominated. Dont play this in a full ring game.

Well i'll try to learn from the second one then.

Cheers guys. I guess this is why you play, to learn Smile.

Hand1 - as soon as someone type the kind of crap he types I know he has a monster... however, I agree, it will be hard to get away from what seems like a monster. But I agree about reraising preflop. How dare he reraise an AK Razz If he reraised again, I'll probably lay it down preflop. (at least I hope I would)

Hand2 , what they said.
