Hi , decided to sit in a FL game, seeing I lost some of my aggression.

Sure I slow played on the flop, but I don't see any chance someone laying down top set in FL..notice how he didn't cap on the turn , and how I didn't cap on the river once the pair board - so I'm putting this down to bad luck, right?

next big lose :

Again, decided to slow play top two pair on a draw less board.
Am guessing this is real bad move in FL - he had odds to call on the river and did catch the runner runner for the flush , so I fished this one, didn't I?

Hand 1: bet the flop, yeah it would have cost you one more bet now, but I think it will cost you a lot more in the long run by not betting it.

Hand 2: Awful, awful not betting this flop. You can't be scared to put money in the pot with what is likely the best hand. If the table weren't so short handed I would actually hate the call preflop too.

slow playing doesnt make nearly as much sense in FL as it does in NL. You only get to make 2 1/2 big bets in FL, assuming no raising, and giving up that 1/2 a raise to disguise the strength of your hand usually isnt worth it. Especially 3 handed, when betting out doesn't have to indicate strength at all.

Hand 1: Fold preflop. Otherwise, bet the flop.

Hand 2: Raise preflop. Betbetbet the flop.

its best to play your hands in low limit FL straightforward

that being said, theres not much you could've done to get away from either of them

In my meek defense :
The first hand , I was only slightly worried about a split pot, especially with the turn. My slow playing the flop allowed any low A or even a J or a K to think they might have the best hand and to stick around for SD. A good player might have throw a mid pair away if I bet out on this flop. So I think slowplaying this flop allow me in the long run to get a little more money out of villain.
In this case, in FL doesn't matter what I do villain stay to the end. Doesn't matter what he does, I wouldn't have lay the hand down. So not to be result oriented - if I'd bet the flop, we would have capped it at least all the way to the turn , which would have cost more to me.

Second hand, here, if I bet the flop there is a good chance villain would have put down the hand. On NL - I would have pushed the turn and villain would be a fool to call - but here, he made the right move and made a hand. So i guess I should have bet.
Though again, considering his chances of actually getting a runner runner , isn't it a +EV to keep him in the hand?

Danny

Hand #1. Raise or fold preflop, fold is most likely your best option. As played, check-raise the flop and lead the turn.

AQ on that board, 3-handed is pretty strong. I think there's less of a chance of his folding to a flop bet than you think.

Not if you don't bet, it's not.

guess I'll stick with NL - not that I'm doing much much better there Smile

I'll just go through street by street I guess

1st hand

Preflop: Yuck. Fold here. I'd give you one of those "ehhhh" looks if you raised, but limping is no goot.

Postflop is pretty much fine. Raising the flop is a fine alternative. Might be superior here, since a PFR usually either hit that flop hard-ish, or whiffed entirely.

2nd hand

Preflop: ... can I say "yuck" again? This has to be a raise preflop.

Flop: Go ahead and fire at this. I don't hate checking behind nearly as much as everybody else does, but I think a bet is pretty clear most of the time.

A more interesting question is the river, as I think you could make a case for raising here. Hard to tell, given I don't really know what we usually see against river donkbets in spots like this. Probably just a call here though, given that you showed a good amount of strength with your line, and there's a pretty good number of hands that picked up draws on the turn that just pulled ahead.

Mostly, yuck @ preflop.
