Which poker room for the mac?

Posted Thu Oct 12, 2006 10:45 am GMT by MrDarling
I know this kind of thing has been done, but not specificly to the Mac.

my choice is limited to :
Fulltilt - software. great look . no Micro levels hate the blind structure in S&G and MTT
Partypoker - just release a software for the mac. What are you thoughts about them?

pokerroom - been playing with the java based site for a while (freerolls and play money only) hate the look, but am thinking the competition in low levels pretty meek and I like the blind structure.

Any other suggestions?

Will be investing only $100 and plan to play on the low levels 10NL max and low levels S&G.
Have an account in FT, where I blew up through my $100 and $50 bonus by being a fish. For the last 2 month been grinding my last $10 up and down there. I find the low S&G pretty annoying - only turbo available and people are actually pretty tight there. its not that hard to make ITM in those, but once there it usually become a simple luck race due to the high blinds...

So , am looking for low levels loose ring games with loads of fish , and S&G with a decent blinds as well as few small MTT (or MT S&G)
Am not going to play too much, so I need an easy to clear up bonus.

Last, what about rake back? I remember someone here running a rake back site , will it work with a mac's account?

Thanks for all suggestions - at the moment I'm leaning towards party, though I just downloaded the software and hope I don't hate it too much.

Danny

party is a terrible site for a low bankroll. I would suggest not using it. I have no idea about pokerroom, but I've found fulltilt to be just fine imo. The only thing wrong with it is that their bonuses are really hard to clear at the lower stakes.

My suggestion, play on fulltilt.

Party is worse then Fulltilt for low bankroll?

From what I've seen so far, party at least have micro levels for beginners (I don't know how long you can play there though)
The mac software is still beta, so no tournaments or S&G available yet...

But what about the blinds on Fulltilt - only turbo for the lowest levels. And even best blinds are still only 10min long. Isn't it too short? I much prefer longer blinds...

btw , I cleared my last bonus playing omaha and stud - but I think if I play A game on the low levels it should be easy enough to at least break even (which I sort of do now with less then a full buying left in my kitty)

You can play at Party's beginner tables for 45 days after your first deposit.

I don't know if any site has better than 10 minute levels for SNGs. That's what Stars SNGs are, you have to play their MTTs to get longer levels, and Stars is considered to have the best structures.

Fulltilts S&G are 6 minute long - even the 45 people S&G
The tournaments are 10 minute.
Also blinds start at 15/30 with 1500 chips starting stack

Pokerroom has 10 min S&G (I think) and 12 minute MTT's.
Blinds start at 10/20 with 1500 chips

6 minute S&G for 45 people, its simply ridicules

Wow, the Doyle's Room SNG's are 8 minutes, I thought that was really bad. Although they do have 'extended' SNGs that are 12 minutes. Problem is, their traffic is low it takes a while for them to fill up. Probably not available for a Mac anyway.

Party is adding micro limits. I noticed it today.

well, decided to redeposit in fulltilt as they are offering a redeposit bonus.

its going to be damn hard clearing this bonus in 60 days with the kind of schedule I have going this month

ok, so I deposited only $100 because I don't think I can clear more then the $50 bonus in 60 days.
first day, multi tabled 2 10NL and 1 25NL - bought the min in all 3.
busted once in the 25NL my AQ against AJ, A in the flop, he called my allin and rivered a J - however finished the 3 hour session with a small profit.
in the two lower levels, busted out twice in one table due to 2 bad beats and decided to leave it and keep it to 2 table.
in the other table I turned my $2 to $14 then back to $1 (bad push with 2 pairs against a str8 - should have called insted ) but finished with $7

So over all 1st session - 3 hours, a couple of $ to show for it and only 6% of my bonus cleared. Guess I'll try to multi the 25NL next time as the level is not that much higher!

Good luck me!
