$10 to $10,000 Challenge

Posted Mon Oct 23, 2006 12:32 pm GMT by ronster71
This is an introduction...I've been playing hold'em since about Feb of 2004...I was dreadful at first but I've been reading, studying, and playing a lot over the past couple of years. I decided in May to challenge myself to make the WSOP in 2007, and starting with a $10 bankroll I set out to make $10,000 by WSOP 2007. I recently started a blog/website to document my progress and post my daily rants/mistakes/good fortune, etc. I play on most sites under ronster71, but on nine I am 9ronster7...I challenge anyone to do the same thing, and I will be glad to link your own blogs to my site. We can all help each other make it to the 2007 WSOP. Hope to see all of you at the tables, and feel free to check out my site, link to it, post messages, and place your own links...shuffle up and deal...my weblog is listed under my profile if you are interested in checking it out

how self-serving.

If I could make $10,000 from $10 in a few months, I wouldn't bother with tournaments. I'd be making too much at cash games to waste my time!

I'm in, but I'm not going to 2007 WSOP lol. I'll try and make 10k, but it wont be accomplished for a while now Laughing

Good luck - that's quite the hefty goal.

Agreed, plus the fact odds are you bust out of the money.

Now i would love to c that done!!!!!!!!!!

Eh... many have done it, Leon.

Posted Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:24 pm GMT by supafrey
That's misleading. The vast majority of people that "have done it" already had tens of thousands in their poker roll. (Pros and semi-pros alike). I've rarely seen people do it literally from scratch.

On a French Canadian forum, one guy posted an article a while back on how to make $10K from $50. While he achieved it himself, many had done the same, and I'm trying to it as well.

Of course, $10K would be nice, but it's also to improve my poker skills, as well as my patience (OMG do I need to improve my patience!!! LOL!!).

how would you do it? from playing cash games or tourneys?

Posted Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:05 pm GMT by MrDarling
Chris Jesus went from $1 to $10k and now is attempting to go from 0 to $10k...

In that article, he had proposed for both NL and FL, I guess that's the "easier" way.

That sounds like a smart plan. Work your ass off to turn $10 to $10,000 and then blow the whole thing on one buy-in for one tournament. Shocked

Assuming you don't place. :D

Gotta live the dream.

Although, I don't think anyone is going to turn $10 into $10k.

$1k into $10k, sure.

I initially posted this and thought I'd give an update...I apologize in advance to the gentleman who replied that I was being self-serving...please feel free to read no further sir.

Okay, on with the update...I continue to build my bankroll. It is at about $3400.

Assessments...I have realized that many of you were correct with your critique's of my plan.

First, it was a hefty goal and realize I will probably now fall short of making the 10k.

Second, building such a roll out of $10 and then blowing it on one entry is a foolish bankroll decision...I agree with that observation. I probably wouldn't do it now if I were to make the 10k in time.

I do, however, feel like the goal, the blog, and the constant tracking of my bankroll have improved my game by leaps and bounds...I would encourage anyone attempting to improve their game to do the same type of thing.

I will continue my blog as I want to see just how long it will take me to get to 10k, as I don't see getting it done within a year. Thanks and have a great day!!!

I read a little from your blog .
few things, first, aren't you risking your army career by playing poker? Didn't think it was ok, especially since you seem to be doing it from an army base computer.

Anyway, you turned -$17 to $1800 in 4 days then it took you 4 month to make another $1800?
I'm still a little confuse about how you made your first $1k .

In any case, good luckk

Danny

To clarify...

I do not play poker on my Marine (not army) computer.

I play poker at home during my off time on my personal computer.

I started my bankroll challenge in May of 2006, but didn't start the blog until around October I think...so I didn't make $1600 in a few days, more like 4 or 5 months...and about $1800 more in the last 4 months, give or take...thanks for the inquiry

$10 to $3,400 is quite the achievement. To hit the $10K will basically take a $2,500 HU SnG followed by a $5,000 HU SnG - both of which you need to win Wink

Stars run such size SnGs and there are often players waiting. I'm sure other sites do it too. Get on it Very Happy
