Just got my First poker book a few days ago. I got this one as it was the only one I managed to find on Ebay and win a bid.
Just holding the book make me feel like a better player.
Started reading and its a great read. First section Draw Poker. Never played, probably never will. But I read it with interest.
Second section Stud. Cool. Need to get back to it later to totally grasp.
Now I'm in lowball , and I can barely bring my self to skim through it. This book is soo dated. The chances of me ever playing lowball are even smaller then getting 5 Ace's in draw poker
When does Holdem section starts.
Any suggestion comments about this book or the next book I should buy?
Thanks
Danny
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Danny that would depend on what your wanting to play. Playing mainly SNG's? Cash games? 7 stud? Omaha?
If your playing SNG's then I suggest Harrington volumes 1,2 and 3.
Ring/cash games then go with Slansky so you can learn about all the odds stuff.
7 Stud..I say Slansky again.
Frankly most any book on poker is a good book in my opinion. The main idea is to learn how to make yourself a better poker player over-all. Even garnering one little bit of helpful information from a book makes the book worth reading in my opinion.
You can do a search on this forum for lists of recommended books and everyone's opinions on them.

Super system is not a novel and you won't miss anything if you skip to the hold 'em section.
