A surprising title considering I've been playing almost non-stop for about 2.5 - 3 years now. I think it's time I quit again ... I have several reasons though, that you may want to think about when you're playing poker.
Why did I play poker in the first place?
1) Fun
2) Money
3) Challenge
4) Proving my mental capacity
Examing those ...
1) Fun, I really don't have much fun playing poker anymore, on good days I feel the same as I usually do, but when I take a bad beat (often in stud) I get in a real shit mood.
2) I'm making ~$10 - $15 an hour as a delivery driver, that'd be 5 - 7.5 BB/hour playing 1/2 stud ... but I can't play poker for hours and hours on end.
3) A lot of the challenge in stud has been taken out for me, it's really a mechanical process now, and it can get boring at times.
4) I know that I'm better than 75% of the people I sit with, I think at a higher level than most players do up to the 3/6 level probably, and even though I'm not great at it, I probably think a higher level than the average 100NL player, average 3/6 limit hold'em player, and 50 PLO player.
So why should I continue poker? For now I'm giving up online, I may play in some home games around school, but for now its taking up my time.

you gotta enjoy what you do. given that... considering your response to number 1... i'd say you made the right choice.

I'm with you on that Salche. I pretty much gave it up a couple months ago. Just didn't do it for me anymore. Only time I've played lately is when Party gave me $40. 1 $33 MTT and that was it.

I still find it hard to believe that she is pushing 50 years old.

Scan , from what I read here you seem to have the brain to do this...
Now if you don't have fun you have two choices :
1. quit
2. change games
Reading Super System now, seems to me you might want to consider stud hi/lo . From what I read, it is the easiest game to make money in, especially if you're discipline enough to follow few simple rules.
But by all means, take a long break and see if you miss it at all. Since you are not making your living playing poker, you need to enjoy it!!
Good luck what ever you do!

I play because :
1) Love games & Competition
2) Money
It turns out to be "fun" because of # 1 & 2. If I lost money, it would cease to be fun & I wouldn't play.

I play for the competition and to prove I am the best damn poker player in the world. Till I get that WSOP ME bracelet I will just have to keep saying it. When I do then it will prove it to all of you...
Salche, do what feels right buddy. Your a good kid with lots of smarts. You know what is best for you so go out, get away from the PC and enjoy yourself.
