Push. You have 4000 chips with the BB at 500. That gives you an M of right around 8. Anytime you have less then a 10 M it is time to start thinking about pushing here. If you bust then it wasn't ment to be. If you grab blinds only then so be it.

I stand to be corrected, but doesn't the "M" include the small blind as well. therefore his "M" is just over 5?

Regardless UaU is still right, if it's under 10 then it's a push, an I would push with a hell of a lot less than AQ

Ok, I did push on that one, and I busted on the bubble, and that's why I've posted that here.

I'm just wondering if there's some other "good" ways to play this.

well, if you wanted to be conservative you could just wait. There's 2 players in the same situation as you and they also have to make a desition soon. So you really just have to go on your guts, are one of the other players gonna bust out in 8 hands? Then yes, its worth the wait. But if you think not, well then you have to go for this hand.

I don't think you can afford to sit back and wait for a better spot with the blinds so high. I'm pushing every time with AQ without even thinking about it, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

You need to push every time, and it's not even close. You're on the blinds the next hand. Push. You won't see much better in the next few hands unless you're real fortunate. Push.

Did I mention you need to push here?

Oh, and don't be results oriented. Posting it here just because you busted is silly, thinking that there could possibly be any other way to play it.

Here I'm thinking more of a way that if you win, you still win, but if you lose, you still have a chance of surviving.

To tell the end of the story, I did pushed, player B called, player D thought a while, and folded.

Player B had AJ, and caught his J, while player D had AK but folded.

At this point, it's basically always raise or fold for all players, except maybe for the big stacks but still... If I limp, most likely B would've raised at least to have me pot commited. D would've at least called, if not reraised... then, it's either an easy fold or easy call (all-in). If I lose, so be it, but at least I have a chance to save my ass.

As Ham said, don't be results orientated with this hand. You got called by a worse hand and lost, thats poker. I'm still pushing this everytime in that situation

The fact that I lost on the bubble is not important. I could finish on the bubble or last, it's the same. The question is simple, was there a way I could've saved my ass.

In tournaments, I always die this way, so that's why I'm asking.

In this situation though, 4000 is still a lot for most, so when I push, I will get called by decent hands, not K8, A4 and such.

I'm an aggressive player, who will push 99% in such situations, I'm just trying to improve my game where I can.

If you want to play for 6th fold. If you want to play for a higher spot, push.

That's exactly what I thought, and like I said, I would do it at least 99% of the times. I've only posted this hand to see if i was missing something. Since everyone would do the same thing, I feel much better.

Thanks.

Cool.

Personally, I play to win, but a lot of folks care about getting paid.

I just think you make so much more if you crack the top 3, that it is worth it to go for the top 3 instead of a few 6 place finishes.

If you win that hand, you have a good chance to place high. I like that you tried to double up there.

Thanks. At least I'm still up in those $20 45-player SnGs, and it's true, top 3 pays so much more.

I just played in another one, and finished 2nd.

If life was like that, we wouldn't need a Visa card.
