If you thought you had the best hand, I would have reraised on the flop. The way that it played out on the turn, the money was destined to go in on the river. He made a very poor play with his cards on that board, but you let him take the lead on every street post-flop. On that board, if you think he's on a steal, just take it from him on the flop. On the turn, after he raised, your only options were to fold or to take it all the way, because he had so little left behind.

I don't think you should have given up earlier. I just think you shouldn't have let him take control if you believed you had the best hand. Leading on the turn was fine, but I think you should have just put all his money in after he raised, because it was going in anyway (there is always that miniscule chance he might make a profoundly stupid fold).

Considering the way the betting went, though, I think you were just destined to lose your money. His idiotic raise on the turn sealed him in. Just hope that this guy will continue to play bad and win your money back.
