When the Rush is Over

I had a real Jamie Gold week last week. I was up $300 at $1/$2 FL ring because absolutely everything worked. Lots and lots of good starting cards, big draws were coming in on big pots, top pairs were holding up, I was flopping sets with wild abandon, there were lots of fish, everything just came together.

And then yesterday and this morning happened. On the surface it was business as usual. Still got the good starting cards, still flopping big draws, and still flopping top pair with good kickers, still getting big pots. But the wins evaporated. Draws weren't coming through, top pairs weren't holding up, and my middle pocket pairs were left hanging naked with AK on the board.

It took me waaaaayyyyy too long to recognize that the rush was over and that it was back to business as usual. I lost a lot of money on pots that I would NEVER have played that way normally. Also lost some that I should have played but that didn't come through for me.

What do you do when you are on a rush, especially either a multi-hour or multi-day rush? Do you relax a lot or do you play every hand as if it were in isolation?

If you play differently while on a rush what is your return to reality trigger?

If you play like a maniac all of the time regardless please send your handle and site and favorite times/games to play.

When I am 'running good' I tend to see a few more flops but I still tend the play the flop about the same as I would otherwise. I don't necessarily have a trigger that lets me know I'm done with it, but its pretty easy to notice a slow down and tighten back up on the starting hand requirements.
