2006 WSOP HORSE

Wow, just catching the last of this, looks like it was a scorcher! Reese and Bloch in the longest heads up match in WSOP history.

Anyone got a good link to a guide to the ESPN coverage? My cable just says "satellite event" whenever there's any event that wasn't the "main event" LOL.

I don't get why they were only showing hold'em hands on TV and quite frankly it really pissed me off because I feel like the general public is getting way too hold'em oriented. Omaha and Stud, especially their 8/b versions deserve a lot more attention than they get. Those games have their own set of skills which is just as important as NLHE skills.

Salche, if you're talking about the HORSE FT, the entire FT was NLHE only, solely for the TV audience. Ridiculous, of course, being a HORSE tournament. I'm really bummed they didn't show ANY earlier action before the FT from ANY of the five game types. But that final table was an amazing display of skill, professionalism, and dignity in this era of yelling, fist pounding, insulting a-holes who get on TV (I'm looking at you, Molina).

If you're talking about poker on TV in general, it is just ESPN pandering to the lowest common denominator of their viewing audience. I'm sure their logic is along the lines of "We don't broadcast other poker formats because our audience doesn't know those games." Of course, the audience doesn't know those games because ESPN rarely broadcasts non-HE events.

Aww damn I didn't realize that ... I started about halfway into the ESPN broadcast so I missed where they said that. That is pretty ridiculous.

And yes I am talking about ESPN's broadcast in general too. They only had one non-hold em tournament this whole year, when a few years ago they had several (omaha, stud and razz).

I suppose I should be thankful ... if people watched stud and saw how it can be a complicated they might take a liking to learning a new game and poof there goes all the fishies. (same thing goes for omaha).
