Rake in a UK club - Thoughts?? |

There's a poker 'club' recently opened by mine (UK) so I phoned the guy in charge to get some info. One of the main things I wanted to know about was the rake.
The charge is £5 (about $9) per hour per person plus players are also expected to tip the dealer. Having thought about this, if there were 8 players and the game was £1/£2 Pot Limit then I'm expecting the drain to be around £50-£60 per hour (based on 20 hours per hour and £1 tip average).
Would this be usual for a game of this size? Wondering how this compared to other places?

That is typical.
To compare hourly to rake, if you get 30-40 hands per hour at $3-4 rake/hand, that is $90-160/hand or $10-$16 per player.
This is why lower stakes live games are so hard to win.
