I'm not sure just how true this is but it sure gave me a warm fuzzy feeling when I read it.

Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I'd feel better if the article said that Democrats had actually committed to doing something about changing the status quo. It's implied, but not actually said.

I agree. As with most politicians, everything is implied but they won't take a stand on anything until there have been 27 studies done on the subject and even then they will leave themselves room for spin. We'll just have to be patient I guess.

The article doesn't claim causality but implies it. While I don't disagree that the three close races cited could have been swayed by gambler votes 'at the margin' the article's implied impact is much stronger than the evidence presented in the article warrants.
But the possibility is interesting.
I'm going to start a new thread in this topic forum.
