1/2 Stud Hi: (JJ)3 from the BI |

Villain is a regular, pretty aggressive overall, ~23% 3rd street raise with aggro factor of 1.6 (bets+raises/calls=aggro).
I'm not terribly concerned with 3rd street. I prefer to not bet the full amount here because that could create a large pot, and with the queen to my left I'd rather not risk it. Comments on that welcome.
How's the 4th street slowplay? I plan on raising 5th unless an ace comes (3 doesn't scare me, he wouldn't raise with 3s).

I like it, especially since there is a very good chance he will lead 5th unless your board pairs.

yah real good play
id raise 5th unless u get a 3rd club then just call again make it look like a busted flush draw on sixth and seventh

You should never bet the full amount from the BI.
You played it fine, very standard to raise 5th, let's hope he makes Aces up and win a big pot.
Groton: That's bad advice. In stud when a 3rd club hits for example in this situation, players, especially at low limits like to automatically put you on a flush. If you hit club on 5th and 6th you just killed your action pretty much.
Raise on 5th regardless of the card you hit and if you pair your board on 5th then I would probably bet it out rather than checking, because it's so easy for him with one pair to just check behind.

That's not what he did. He did a standard bring-in, then raised the completion when it came back to him. Perfect play here. I think you probably misread the action.

6th Street - (9.35 BB)

How'd I play it, what do you think he has, etc?

So here's what I thought about afterwards.
The villain really has two types of hands here, trips aces or a aces up (full boat is possible, group it with trip aces).
If he's got aces up, all he can be afraid of is what I have, JJ in the hole, but he could be thinking I'm overplaying AA in the hole, or something like that (or not thinking at all). If he's got trip aces, he knows he has me beat so he's happy to see me raising.
of course from my point of view here, i think i'm screwed unless I fill up.

Unless he's a truly horrible player, his reraise on 5th scares the crap out of me, because with your board, the only likely hand to raise him right there is trips. I agree that unless you fill up, you're probably screwed, and even then, there is the chance that he will fill up and still beat you.
Against a truly solid and aware player, I think you could lay down to the reraise on 5th, but in a 1/2 game, I think you have to call down.

No, I did not misread the action. I think you misread his post. He mentioned betting the full amount. I was pointing out that there is pretty much no circumstance what so ever that makes betting the full amount instead of bringing in a good play.
And yeah you should probably stop popping him now because there are no dead aces on board, however I would still call down, especially at this level.
At a higher level, it becomes a bit more different in thinking so I would probably have to say thats player dependant.

My bad. I did misread the first part of the post.
I agree with everything crack says here.

anywho, in the end villain had 88 in the hole and neither of us improved to the river so i took it down
if you take a look at villains play, it really is not so great unless he thinks im raising with a weak two pair here, but frankly if anybody watches me play, they'd know theres no way id make an uber-aggressive move like that
