When ever someone complain that poker is rigged please point them to this hand from the WSOP :

And of course, this is why you SHOULD slow play A's

Worst played aces, ever, and he's rewarded with a bracelet. Rolling Eyes

Didn't watch the link, but I remember watching the broadcast, and Phil Gordon's reaction when he first yells and pumps his fist when he sees Rafe's aces, then horror when he sees the hammer trips, is priceless. Laughing

How would you guys play his aces? Not being smart just wanted to know. I hate when I get them and bet stupid...

I saw that on TV at my local bar, I was going crazy and everyone was like wow you really love poker lol

He had two chances to raise pre-flop and didn't. He allowed the worst starting hand in hold-em to flop trips against his best starting hand. He only calls the flop bet. He then got all the money in on the turn as a 19-1 underdog.

The answer to your question is, RAISE PRE-FLOP!

raise how much though?

Against a full table I raise about 5x big blind....against 1-3 players I raise about 3x, maybe 4x

Depends.

I really don't think he played it that bad. Sure he could have re-raised but he was going to the flop heads up... which is what you want with aces.

I personally think he made a pretty good Pot Limit play, and CK was extremely lucky to catch him. Furthermore, there was little to no indication that CK had three 7's, so it wasn't as though Furst was sure to be behind.

He knew he was going to be heads up after the flop, so why give away the strength of such a premium hand with a raise that is probably going to knock out most weaker hands?

I disagree with the people who think it was a bad play. He got very unlucky, and then very lucky again. Everybody needs some luck now and then.

I almost see what you guys are saying, Skrib and Diamond (and there's no doubt you two are way above me in skill), but you're both wrong about one point: he wasn't guaranteed to be heads-up on the flop when he called the raise, there was one more limper to act behind him.

My bad. I thought the guy w/ KT folded before it got back to AA guy. Still too little info for me to say which way I'd go. Stack sizes would influence my play here.

If either of the other players had less then half my stack, I don't mind going into a 3-way pot. If they both have close too or more than me, I definitly raise to isolate.

Bingo. I completely agree.

You can't always slowplay aces, especially not in a WSOP tournament where the players are good enough to catch tendencies and trends.

It's a trade off. If it was all skill there'd be less dead money in the game.
