I would lean towards checking. If he has you beat he could be doing the check/raise. If he has nothing he could still be doing the check/raise to steal if you make a small/value bet.

I agree. The last thing you want to face is a checkraise here. Take the free river showdown.

Pre flop late position 6 x BB you would think they would have to have a hand to call, Villain calls out of position, flop QJJ, Villain checks You make $10 Villain comes over the top and makes it $20. Has to have AJ, 10 J, I fold. Without a read I got to presume I am beat.

I should also probably note that I have been extremely aggressive at this table. So they could just put me on a complete bluff and think I am trying to steal the dead money. So that may be something to consider.

Okay we are at the river, the villains check has got me worried, he came over the top previously, knows that you are an aggressive player and if that’s his style could be looking to come over the top again., We picked up the K and now have two pair, If he has that J as I suspect, his $16 turn bet looks like a value bet to find out where he is. You called the bet, he now checks the river looking for that extra value for you to bet, he will then put you all-in. I check.

As previously mentioned I would have folded on the re-raise flop, however continuing on was an option, but I would have asked him the question on the turn do you a J call the $16 and re-raise $16, check or fold the river if we get there.
