sorry - another 'who wins' question

Posted Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:09 pm GMT by sqwerty
2 players check after the river.
Pair of 3's on the table plus nothing higher than a J
Player 1 has Q5
Player 2 has Q8

Is this a split pot or does Player 2 win because I always thought this was a split (pair of 3's Q kicker) until last night when Player 2 took the pot when i was playing online.

Pretty sure that's what happened.

Thanks in advance

Always the best five cards, not just the first kicker.

For instance, 33QJ8 beats 33QJ5, but if the board were, say, 33T92, it would be a split, since each player would play 33QT9.
