So I'm midway through HOH Volume 2 and was introduced to the SHAL concept (Structured Hand Analysis). I've read through it a few times and even tried put it into action too. Just wondering what other HOH readers think of this and how often they use it to justify their moves in late MTT combat.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

i like it...it seems like a logical way of thinking thru a hand...altho too much thinking when facing a decision could give away whether you are on a draw, so be careful of that....it can be cumbersome, but the better i get, or the more concentrated on the game i am, the quicker i can make decisions cuz i've thought about similar situations before
SHAL usually deals w/ decisions after the flop...for preflop situations, thinking along these lines seems very similar....its just a page w/ common preflop matchups that can really help preflop, especially heads up

I like the concept, although I will probably never use it in actual play.Way to complicated.Nice to reveiw hand histories with to see if I made correct decisions(if i actually get around to it).
The SHAL has to be the best I've ever seen poker hands brokedown to simple mathmatics. It is totally a brilliant concept. Before reading HOH 1 and 2,I though Dan was a total tight ass conservative player.I now see how he veiws and plays the game of NL holdem, nothing short of genius(IMHO)
