Situation or Player?

If someone makes a bad play on you eg calling a flush on bad odds and hitting meaning they win. Should u be looking forward to situations like those in other games or should u be angry at the player because you wont play them enough or ever again meaning you wont be able 2 catch them using their bad plays allowing you to get your money back?

One of the postulates of the Fundamental Theorem of Poker: Every time your opponents play differently than they optimally would if they could see your cards, YOU WIN.

I believe that answers the question. Poker is a game of decisions and EV. Make the right decisions, the +EV decisions, and the luck will take care of itself.

Therefore:

Your opponents mistakes are earning you money on a situational basis.

It doesn't matter which players beat your AQ with KJ, but as long as you continue to get in that situation, you'll constantly benefit.

One of the basic strategies in poker is to make your opponent put money in the pot when he is not getting the correct odds. For example, NLH, heads up, your opponent is on a flush draw after the turn, pot is currently $100, and you are first to act. You know you have him beat, but if he catches his flush on the river you lose. Your bet here should be large enough so that he is not getting the correct odds to call. Since from his perspective the odds of him making his flush (assuming he has 9 outs at this point and he only knows what his 2 cards are) are 19.6% or about 4-1, your bet should be large enough so that he's getting less than 4-1 on his money. If you bet out $50, it costs him $50 to call a $150 pot: he's getting 3-1 odds. If he calls, he's not getting proper odds so he's making a mistake. On the other hand, if you bet out $25, it costs him $25 to call a $125 pot: he's getting 5-1 odds so he should call.
