Do you use the chat while playing?
Rarely I might compliment player for a good fold when they fold a real hand to my missed draw bluff - in low levels they sometime announce what they fold .
Sometimes when I bluff a scary board (like 3 K) I complain that even when I quads I don't get paid.
Now I don't bluff that much, and I never talk during a hand.
Thoughts?

It all depends. Usually my chat consists of "nh" or "ouch" or possibly "nc". When I get a few drinks in me, however, I may go hogwild in the chat. I usually just try to talk BS and not poker and make sure everyone knows I'm just a stupid drunk girl. They pay me off more often when they have that impression.
I did get into a razzing of a player at the table who was playing entirely too slowly one night last week. Another guy started it and I fell into step with him. The guy we were razzing doubled up both of us because he thought we were "making plays at him" when we would bet. It backfired once when he caught a 4-outer on the river to crush my flopped set of K's, but I got that money back plus. Basically, I don't chat much when I'm sober and usually only chat to get a specific reaction. When I'm drinking, it could go many different ways.
A lot also depends on whether I'm multi-tabling, if the hubby's in the room with me and we're chatting, if there's a ballgame on the TV that I'm watching or if I'm truly engrossed in a book and reading while I'm playing.

Because most people are too stupid to do anything with the advice, regardless of how sound it may be.
The person doing the screaming isn't the one who's causing a problem. It's the person that says, "Shhhhh!" that turns the rant of a lunatic into something that Mr. I-was-50-50-with-my-flush-draw starts to listen to.

Don't chat much and I don't talk much in live games either. I feel I give away more than I get from talking.
I will make exceptions if someone blows up at me, I try to push them even harder into tilt. If you say something like "how could you call" I give them a really dumb reason just to set them off. Although my favorite so far is heads up I call and suck out on villian who said "I thought you were a better player than to call that bet", I said "now you know better".

I remember once when I got berated for tapping the glass. Some guy was telling people they had played 43% vpip and what not and they were saying how do you know? "Can't tell you" so I told them all about poker tracker and he went mental.
So I told him not to be a c*nt and act superior because I have it too and besides that I know most of them wouldn't have known how to use it anyway.
I don't tap the glass and usually ignore the chat but people like that piss me off. Oh also when someone tells me how bad my move was I like to berate them too. I used to try and act all clever and try to own them without swearing and stuff but it doesn't matter, it's just a waste of time. I give them what they want and call them a f*cking retard or whatever.

i generally only make small talk about the football as my stars avatar is the mighty leeds badge  so im usually getting stick from someone having a laugh at there expense.
its surprised me since i started playing poker how many americans follow the football in the uk.
ps and it is football not SOCCER

This is an example of my use of the chat. If someone lets on what bugs/annoys/tilts them, I start pushing that button. The more they dispute or rant at what I say the harder I push the button. My sister taught me this tactic growing up (though I was usually the one whose buttons were being pushed) and I've found it works really well in poker, at work, in a sports bar, in a stadium, etc.

might be old news to some of you here, but if you type the first letter of a word, then add %% then the rest of the word, you can type curse words on bodog
example-
stupid f%%ucking c%%unt
i talk s%%hit all the time to make people hate me, makes them call me more because they just want to get rid of me. I proudly must say Im probably the most hated player on bodog
