Found my new love

Posted Fri Dec 15, 2006 1:56 pm GMT by MrDarling
I just recently started playing short hand (6 players) and it is my new love.
Loads more action, loads more poker.
Can't say I make more money in it - though I did manage to double my BR in less then a week. (of course, manage to also lost half of it again in one day)

If you get a good table, and learn your opp. you can easily build your stack.

I am playing much more hands (almost 40%). A lot of rags. And it did improve my late stages S&G as well. Aggression is the key.
In low limit people do tend to play almost every hand, and on the wrong table call almost every preflop raise and call every cont. bet (sometimes even lead into you) So its hard to know if you are ahead on a missed flop.

I've seen people call 2 bets with T7o, mini reraise with 84o. I've seen rocks call raises with J8s. So it is harder to play if you miss - at least for me.

Any advise , comments?

Thanks

Danny

i've been playing the 6-max tables and they really are pretty sweet, you can run over most tables and hit em with big pocket pairs

after losing my entire BR I'm not sure I can take the Short Hand table swings.
To be honest I was playing way to lose preflop. And though often you can easily walk on a table with aggression alone. if you sit in the wrong table and not adjust quickly you can lose your entire stack.

Am now back to playing A poker and actually had no losing sessions to date.
I mix 1 SH table with 2 full ring and play Tight-Ass aggressive poker. Have folded loads of TP. Lost a bit with 2 pairs against a better 2 pair. Over pair against a set, Over pair against a bigger over pair (K's vs A's) and a flush vs a boat.

For the rest I'm winning the big pots and throwing away most small ones.

SH games are a whore, I won't go near them personally, especially SH MTTs.

I kinda always prefered short handed, it encourages more play and if you're agressive you can really run over tables. I like full tables too, but you get a better feel for your opponents in short handed too.
I won a short handed pot limit hold em mtt on ps other day,I may enter short handed mtts more often, they look fun and it suits my game well.

My advice is dont play short handed games if you are really tight cos you will lose alot in blinds before you pick up a hand and its harder to get action on shorter handed games cos theres less opponents etc. Play them if you are usually one of the more agressive at a full table. Just my thoughts.

I actually started playing online on 6-max tables. Typically you wont get sucked out as much and it lets you have more control over the table. Momentum plays a bigger role there. But with that, can come some devastating blows and like mr. darling said, you could play way too many hands.
