Been running into these type situations here, especially with flush/straight type hands. Seat 5 is pretty donkish, here I was praying he had 45 and would actually raise allowing me to 3-bet. In a more general sense, do you think I should be raising here, risking losing both, or shooting for the overcall, but risking getting checked to on 6th.

I am not a big stud player, but I think I would just call here and hope for the player after you to overcall or raise. If he has 45, I'm pretty sure he will raise and you will be able to re-raise when it gets back to you. If he just calls, lets see what happens on the turn.

Raise. I don't see you getting a call from the 5-seat, let alone a raise. 2-seat probably has TTT, and I'd rather get money in the pot while we're still ahead.

I think I usually raise 4th here to potentially buy a freebie and then lead 5th with the made flush, hoping that trip 10's will raise (if he has a boat, so be it, there really isn't much you could do with a made AK-flush). Raising 4th may also buy you some extra outs to win by getting the third player out of the pot and shutting out a draw that may crack a pair of aces or kings if you make it.

As played, I raise 5th for value almost all the time. Occasionally (10-15% maybe), I smooth call here intending to raise 6th regardless. Most of the time, I think the third player folds 5th regardless, as Sean said, unless he has exactly 33, 66, 22, or 45 in the hole, even at $1/$2.

I don't like raising 4th here, I think it gives away my hand (would you raise with 88/99 vs. likely trips?). Plus I want seat 5 in the pot for as long as possible since hes probably got 10 - 20% to win unless he has trips.

I raise 4th for 2 reasons.

If i can push out the third player then thats good because I may win with a medium two pair or even Aces or Kings if I brick the flush. You have more chance of winning with these hands HU than 3 way.

If he doesnt go away then that's fine because he will feel commited to the pot and hopefully will pay me off when I make my flush. Also, there is a good chance if he does call, the first to act will 3 bet allowing me to cap and then he has a very difficult decision to make if he feels commited to 7th.

Does it give your hand away? Yes, it can do, but does it matter because at these levels they will probably call you down anyway. However, they could put you on a two pair trying to get it HU, an OESD maybe?

Even though you have two clubs showing, I think a raise here is just as good a disguise here as a call.

If I am the guy with open Tens on fifth and I see your board I am going to be extremely worried anyway, connected and suits is bad news for two pair. What would make me even more worried would be the smooth call on 5th. Why are you keeping someone else in the hand?

Also, if you made a FD with the 3c and the one in the hole you are supposed to raise.

I may be going off on a tangent here, but raise 4th and raise 5th.

The guy with open 10s is going to bet into you on 6th if he has trips, and likely even if he doesn't. I don't mind flat calling on 5th if you think you'll get an over call. It ends up with same number of bets by your opponents into the pot (2), without you having to put 2 in yourself. And unless the overcaller has 2 pair already, hes basically drawing dead, so you aren't risking too much by keeping him in.

The worst situation for you is to catch another club on 6th as that will kill your action. Remeber, unless the open 10s hits a boat, theres only going to be one raise in this hand (either 5th or 6th), unless the guy is a complete fool.

So see if you get an overcall on 5th, and then raise on 6th. You'll generally end up with the same number or more bets from your opponents with less risk to yourself.

TKT Bets 5th, you call, 362 folds

TKT checks 6th intending to call down with two pair.

I'd say that's a bad scenario as well and one that's likely to happen Jef if he doesn't have trips, and if he does why don't we make him put in the 2 bets now while we definetly have a chance, rather than hoping he bets out on 6th.

If he has two pair, he will probably call down anyway at these limits so let's make him pay. Holding a flush on 5th there isn't that great a risk as you put it, so I am raising here generally.

We don't need to get fancy with limit poker in this spot, let's get the money in there while we are a favourite and likely to be paid off.
